I don't even know what to do with it and I bet he doesn't either. Do we just plug it into a smart TV and that makes the internet more reliable than wifi?A hard wired network is a little more secure than Wifi and does mean you don't have to worry about passwords & stuff. Wifi is still good, but if you have lots of foil backed plasterboard, it can disrupt the signal. While you are "future proofing" the wiring, could I suggest running a neutral wire to each light switch - If you ever desire to fit "smart" switches such as the Sonoff, you'll need a live & neutral feed.Fitted a couple of smart switches here and was fortunate that running a neutral wire to each box was trivial (had 20mm conduit in place). Being able to turn the lights on/off without getting up or setting a timer is very handy.Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

When you say a neutral wire is that in addition to the earth that's in three core?

A bog standard light switch will have a live feed in, a switched live out, and an earth. Many "smart" switches require a neutral in addition to the live feed. The earth is just there for the metal back box in most cases.-taff said: When you say a neutral wire is that in addition to the earth that's in three core?

Well that's sent me down a rabbit hole of smart light switches! I've spent a small fortune on lighting and automatically thought 'no' to the cost of a control system as someone had mentioned ££££s.I can't get my head round the Sonoff website but the Lightwave website seems pretty friendly.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Hmm. They're so expensive, especially with the amp and they're only for the bathrooms. I'm looking at about £1,800, I think.Raggie said:

I'm wondering if I even need them to be compatible as I can't really imagine needing to play the same music in the bathrooms as elsewhere? They could just be bluetooth, even.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

The amp can only play one source at a time, so one bathroom would be "left" the other "right".
You can connect six speakers to a single amp, across multiple rooms but all rooms will play the same music.
