OK, I found this one, it has 8gb ram and both ssd and hdd. It would mean connecting my current monitor as its at my price limit. It may be silly to ask but I presume the connection types havent changed between pc and monitor over the years and my old monitor will be connectable to it.

It has VGA which is likely what you are currently using. VGA is normally coloured blue so just double check your current connector if you are unsure.

This is the Techie Stuff forum. Do you have any technical advice to impart?

You deleted and then edited your post because of mine. Think my involvement here is done.

You don't need 1TB drives, that is marketing BS.

    Really?

    I have (quick check)

Of 14 (ish) TB of space around maybe 5 (ish) free. (across 2 machines).

It all depends on what you do.

Yes OP sounds like they do not need it. However a 128gb drive should not be recomended these days. Even 256 is not great value for money. (just a compromise usually for an otherwise usuable system).

    Looks good to me.

One thing I'd say about the 128GB SSD.
Make sure you store only essential stuff on it and check what it stores the moment you start up first time or you might find everything is stored on it and the space is filled very quickly.

I've got some stuff stored on my SSD by mistake and I can't find out how to transfer to HDD.

Someone will be on in a minute to tell me I'm not a techie etc etc.
    Well I know that.
It's your money. Except if it's the governments.

Not really but most of those that fit what people say are £700+. That's too much for me. Secondly I have stuck with the current one for so long again for financial reasons and most of that time ran fine for me. And ssd may not turn out the best if in a few years I find I have no storage room left.

The real issue is not budget, but the unwillingness to do even the slightest amount of maintenace. There is little doubt that over the years, you have been offered assistance to to improve your lot.

The fact is that you could fit an SSD to any device yourself. But looking at your twelve year history, there appears to be a very low chance of that.

I know that I am being very straightforward in my replies to you and deliberately so.

You should really learn and not be afraid to do some simple maintenance, with the help of the very helpful members here...who have a wealth of experience.

You want to buy a new device with old technology.
It will definitely be a LOT better that what you are running now. But most anything will be better than what you are running now, simply because you refused to do even the slightest amount of maintenance.

No one is suggesting that you should spend £700. The problem is that your approach is totally inflexible. So our advice is moot.

So just best to let you buy whatever you choose and leave it at that.

The real issue is that the OP has been offered assistance many times over the years, but has refused all offers.
That is why, in 2019, they are running Vista on 1 GB of RAM on an HDD.
If they had accepted help, they would have no fear of buying a refurbed ex business machine for next to nothing and fitting a larger capacity SSD within...or even buying new and fitting a smaller capacity SSD as a Boot drive, leaving the 1 TB HDD as a Boot drive.

But without even the most cursory attempt at maintenance, they cannot avail themselves of the best value for money available.

Either of her options in her first post will work. What else can be said?

Nothing against the OP at all. Obviously everyone wants the best for them.

[QUOTE=donnajunkie;76216456https://www.argos.co.uk/product/1931240[/QUOTE]Looking at new, think you can shave quite a bit off £500. e.g. Mesh have been around a long time (but their website is horribly slow - may just be me!) £350 with SSD and HDD; VGA connector for your current monitor; Windows 10 Pro.
