I have a silly question related to monitors. Many i have seen say no built in speakers. So does that actually mean i would get no sound at all unless i bought speakers.0

I think the issue is relative. You say it works fine. We're sure it does - in your eyes. It is a tortoise and hare comparison.
I can remember my first PC from 30 years ago. From memory (remember I'm 67) it was a Intel 386 CPU, 500MB RAM, 126 MG HDD and a dial up Modem delivering 256 MB internet speed.
Well , it worked, and if I had it today perhaps it still would.
But would I be happy with it after experiencing modern CPU's and 200MB BB - No!
Perhaps you just don't know what you're missing.
Well if i get done what i want to without anything annoying me then wheres the problem. As i said i know there are systems that work better but my first sentence here is what is relevant. Its only in recent times i have had issues with speed.0 -

That's correct, some may offer an optional soundbar although it's usually easiest to get a small set of speakers to place on your desk.0 -

I like it that a monitor is a device dedicated to visuals. Every penny has been spent making the graphical representation as accurate as possible. Why would a monitor have speakers?I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.
I love my job

Monitor speakers are generally unpopular hence most don't come with them or it's an optional soundbar, I think the last time I saw someone wanting speakers on their monitor was back in the late 90's. A small set of desktop speakers offers far better audio performance and not restricted to a specific monitor or PC.0 -
What are you using for sound currently?0

As aforementioned, "working fine" is subjective. If you are happy to wait for minutes for your PC to settle down, then you might consider that "working fine".
I, on similarly old hardware, often have 100 tabs open on multiple browsers with not an issue.. Device is fully loaded in less than thirty seconds.
It's just unnecessary to suffer such poor performance when such an easy and inexpensive fixx is available.
How ironic for donnajunkie to mention that they bought a PC because ;When i got my current one i considered a laptop but was told desktops are better, laptops are more of a pain to get repaired, laptops can suffer overheating and what if the screen goes you are stuck with a laptop that has a broken screen.
But then has flatly refused to go forward with any kind of repair or upgrade.
For me, it makes no difference at all. I am not going around in circles, cogitating, though doing nothing.
I am not suffering the limitations of running an unsupported operating system on inadequate RAM and a slow HDD and then wearing like a badge of honour.
Your 'friend' still running Vista in 2019?
But this is a Tech forum, so I put forth the arguments. I do my best to convince the uninitiated of the best way forward and many have thanked me for doing so.
There are others who will stubbornly stick to what they know come what may and will only move when forced to move.
I don't take it personally. Many others will and do read and take my advice.
As they say; You can take a horse to water.....
So donnajunkie will do whatever they want in the end. I'm ok with offering them the best advice possible.0 -

If you are not using the screen that won't matter
The basic components are still replaceable overheating is often blocked ventilation.
If you are doing just basic stuff maybe a big tablet would do the job.0 -

Why not? Its nice to have sound without buying more equipment. I am quite happy with the visuals and sound on mine. And to those who may say it, yes i know there are monitors with better visuals and better sound if you connect speakers.0
