OS Daily Friday 23rd Nov 2007

Morning everyone

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for today. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Ooo can't sleep, now what a surprise! Gonna try again to get some ZZzzzzzz in a minute, but thought I'd get the daily on its way first.

The big shadow on my landscape is a visit to the dentist today. I can't say as it is my favourite destination, especially at nine o'clock in the morning. Better to get it over and done with I guess. It's just a check up, but you know how these things can snowball into major surgery of the wallet. Wish me luck.

Yesterday was my little kitten Mitzi's Big Day Out. Yes, she has been to the vet and been doctored. So she is going to be a kitten forever... WhatATwit, I read yesterday about your stopping to assist when a little kitty got run over. How sad, the poor thing, but it's people like you who give us some faith in human nature. Bless you for doing what you did.

Joannasmum, hope you get a bit of "me time" today. Life can be frantic sometimes, but it is important to make the effort to relax every now and again.

Pollyanna - Lumberjack Cake is the name of a cake which is made with dates and apples. It's easy peasy to make... Sorry, not too good with links, but if you click on Pink-winged's user name and look at her previous posts you should find the recipe. It's yummy, makes you fat!!

Roz, welcome back, best of luck in your new flat. You reminded me that when one of my colleague's daughers had children of her own who turned into nightmare teenagers she met up with her father and apologised for everything she put him through!!

Hope everyone with major kitchen and/or window surgery survives the day. It'll be worth it in the end...

Have a fantastic Friday all.

Snowy

  • Morning Snowy & all who follow.
I'm off to work soon, just thought I'd pop in to say hello.
The lodger went shopping yesterday, bought her self some clothes from Primark. She didn't show them to me, so I assume they are 'uncles' clothes.
The woman she's going out with invests a lot of money in her 'uncling' she's had a boob job & a nose job in the last few years.
Hope everyone has a good day.
    Hugs Hester

Morning Snowy and all who cross and follow. :hello:

Thank you Snowy, as a cat slave myself, I couldn't just drive by. :o

I have sent Mr Twit off to work...Darlington today, couldn't do him lunch, as Miss Twit managed to leave the fridge door open last night and I didn't want to poison him  , fortunately there was not much in there to go off.

School run this morning and then I'm taking my nanna shopping. She announced the other day that she wants to start going out in the evenings, at the age of 81. My granddad goes out for a pint and a game of snooker every night so she's going to join him and play bingo.
She watched Trinny and Susannah and now wants a new bra and a whole new image...a bit more modern. :rotfl:
Wish me luck, it could be a fun outing.

Like Aussie, I finished my dishcloth last night, will post a piccie later....Come on Aussie.....show us yer dishcloth. :T

Hugs to Pink and adam, Mrs mix, Pen-Pin, JackieO, Vicky A and all other poorlies and folk with achy bones and joints.

Hopefully as it's friday, all the stroppy kids will chill out. I'll include stroppy OHs for blairweech in that one.

Donnygal, have fun with the kitchen.

    Ellie, hope you are ok.

Love to all not mentioned by name. :grouphug:

    The Twit.

Hester, that's fab term for the lodgers new activity....Uncling. :rotfl:

    Morning all!
I got up earlier than OH this morning and he left for work at 5:45!
Hope you are all well, hugs to those who aren't.
The weather is playing havoc with my joints, which is making me so tired and frustrated.
We've run out of milk so I had to use a little more water than usual (still had a tiny bit of milk left over for it), so I topped it up with a few chocolate chips! Hehe.

My week has been quite annoying, very stressful and tiring for me and had to miss Guides and a meeting for Guides because I've been so tired. But I'm getting there and tonight I shall be having another early one... last Fri-Sat I slept 14 hours and don't mind if I do that again as I've just got to make vodka jellies tonight, and then get ready for the hen night I'm going on tomorrow. Then I'll possibly sleep most of the day Sunday, whilst there is fridge bottom soup being made.

Need to sort out my repeat prescriptions and an appointment with my favourite nurse, so will try to slope off from work early today.

My Mum is an absolute star, I want to buy her and Dad something nice for Christmas, but am not sure what. They have been through a lot this year and have been so strong, so I don't just want to give them the usual £10 gift plus homemade stuff.

Right, I'm off to have a nice bath to soothe my joints and make me smell a bit yummier!

    Have a good day everyone.

  • Morning all

SNOWY hope all goes well at the dentist, had to take my son yesterday for an emergency appointment as part of his molar broke off and it was agony. still no charge as he's on my payment plan.

I just don't seem to be achieving much at all at the moment, feel like a headless chicken. Really must stop volunteering at school. Off there today to sort things for school fair. Am panicking as I have a 4000 word essay to write before Christmas . Plus DS is getting stressed about school, he's only 6!

Must go, work later, have a good day and hugs to all who feel grotty and need them.

  • Good Morning everyone! We've had a slight sprinkling of snow :snow_laug :snow_grin :j Didn't get any last week, so very excited - not enought to make even a Snow Baby, though :o

Did lots of baking yesterday - the Lumberjack Cake recipe is here. Made more of that, an Apple Braid and some individual ones for DD's pack-ups, Christmas puddings, mincemeat, coffee cake, chocolate brownies, bread rolls and loaves.

That means that I have to do some housework today :o:o:o I'll have a damp cloth and Stardrops in one hyand and a duster and polish in the other.

Off out to a really nice restaurant with a big group of friends tonight, so looking forward to that. Apple braid for breakfast, and only fruit for lunch to keep room.

Have a great day, Penny. x

Really frosty here this morning, but at least it's dry

Nothing much planned today, i only have one thing to wrap for Ebay, and then off to Aldi for some shopping.

Think I might do some baking this afternoon, and then will be really naughty and sit and watch Celebrity from last night :p

Have a good day everyone x
