I'd be worried about the amount of carp the next door neighbours seem to have and also the large plants growing between roof and wall and what that says for water ingress under those tiles. And I don't think it would be practical to remove "your" half..

Hey sorry, are you referring to water ingress on my side of the neighbours side? I don’t see where that is. Would that matter if it’s a detached house? Also what is a “carp”. Sorry for my lack of knowledge

I would be concerned about that water running down the wall.
  • Have you checked google maps for any clues as to when it was erected? Apparently they have time lapse photos.

How can you see that/where? Sorry if I’m being blind. Do you know if that is really serious and how much to repair?

If I had to remove it on my side would I have to make sure it remained supported on their side with financial support?
You'd probably have to give it structural support, but I don't see why you should pay for it to go to university...

I had viewed the house but didn’t notice it. I’ll go round and ask the neighbours. Just worried it isn’t actually a detached house. If I had to remove it on my side would I have to make sure it remained supported on their side with financial support?
yes you would need to support it. It would need to be £2 coins because you need their extra width to take the point loading. They are 3mm thick so each column will cost around £1,600 in base metal + cost of glue. You would also be advised to drill each one and run a rod through so as to improve the column's lateral stability. You would need a minimum of 3 columns, so say a budget of £5,000 + cost of labour.

Two questions where is the water that is running down the wall past the window coming from. There is a roof garden growing on top of that strange structure between the two houses probably because it is being watered by the water running down the wall.

The tiles on the edge over the garage don't look even to me.

Does the drive slope towards the house? The reason I ask is because there appears to be a sort of step into the garage which makes me wonder if that is there because in heavy rain it stops the garage from flooding. On one of your photos there is what appears to be a large puddle of water underneath that strange structure.

Thanks everyone - here is a better view of the archway https://ibb.co/YP8GWDV - I have put down an offer which has been accepted but now thinking whether to pull or ask for it to be removed.

Is there an overflow pipe higher up that wall?

Water has been flowing down & over that wall for a looong time, that's why it's all green & mossy.
There's also something growing on that roof.

Also, I can't see how the flat roof meets the wall & if there's suitable flashing.
