  • Hi,

sometimes referred to as 'linked' houses, but usually each house has a garage in the middle, or carport.

It looked it the first picture like thick moss on the garage roof!!
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 3.24% of current retirement "pot" (as at end December 2025)

It’s one of those things that you may not be able to fully get to the bottom of without looking at the title documents. There may be covenants that require contributions towards maintaining it etc.

You may need to instruct a solicitor to check this which will have costs. So, if you are concerned it may just be worth moving on.
  • Thanks everyone - here is a better view of the archway https://ibb.co/YP8GWDV - I have put down an offer which has been accepted but now thinking whether to pull or ask for it to be removed.
  • Would you think about lowering the offer or pull out I already got about 5% off the asking price.
  • Hi,

just looks like a storage area, why not go round and ask the neighbours, you might be living next to them soon.

So you have a covered walkway down the sideof your house. What is the problem?

Once you are the owner, remove it from your side of the boundary if you wish, though I'd recommend ensuring it is supported on the boundary so as not to affect the neighbour's side.

I took it as read that the OP had been round to the neighbour since he'snow made an offer- you wouldn't make an offer without first talking to neighbours now would you? - so I assumed the neighours either were constantly out or declined to talk. Which would ring alarm bells for me!
  • Hi,

well, I take it that he has already viewed the house, so why not ask then?
  • I had viewed the house but didn’t notice it. I’ll go round and ask the neighbours. Just worried it isn’t actually a detached house. If I had to remove it on my side would I have to make sure it remained supported on their side with financial support?
