try posting on the aspergers/asd forum [sorry cant do links] they are brilliant and have helped me deal with many issues. my daughters assessment has been from Feb -sept ,i was told the meeting to discuss the findings would be after xmas ,after taking advice i found out that there are timelines that should be adhered to and put a letter to the services manage stating the issues and when the 17 wk timeframe was up [dec 28th].i followed the letter with a phone call 4 days later [enough time to get the letter] and magically an appointment is available within the 17 wks [dec 16th].
dont let them sting you along start to make a fuss and you will be amazed how quickly you are dealt with.

My daughter will not do any home work as that is for school and nothing to do with home, she keeps the 2 very separate.

  • Thankyou everyone, I think that's half of my problem I just get tired and roll over I guess! My daughter is 7years old, Ive aproached the GP and he said untill the mess gets sorted he will prescribe the molotonin but I've a 10day wait as its not something that the pharmacy stock. I've also to go back to the GP in a couple of weeks when he has recieved the discharge letter and the private report.
Would you approach PALS and complain? or just leave that side of it and concentrate on sorting the rest of the mess so to speak?

a 10 day wait is extreme ? my daughters epilepsy medication isnt stocked and always has to be ordered but its just a 24 hr wait ,if i put the prescription in early am its ready to collect by 5 pm.

My son was exactly the same. Initially it was a battle a day, as it was a change in his routine, but now, well into the second term, he does his homework with only a little fuss. He was also never willing to prepare his bag for school, and we always ended up doing it for him, but now he happily does it himself, as part of his bedtime routine, which is bath/brush teeth/school bag/bed.

How did you change his routine to make this work then Stefano?
You should never call somebody else a nerd or geek because everybody (even YOU !!!) is an
"anorak" about something whether it's trains, computers, football, shoes or celebs :p :rotfl:

Persistence. It's very frustrating, but I guess the old saying "If you do it for 30 days, it'll make a habit" rings true for all, ASD or not. There have been many tantrums on the way, but keep your goal in mind, stay focused and the results will eventually follow.
  • Looking for help - DS got an ear infection, his eardrum ruptured on Monday night. Since getting penicillin for him on Tuesday it's been more than difficuly to get him to take it to th epoint I was in tears last night after he attacked me. He doesn't like the taste or smell of it, waiting on CAHMS getting back to me re an emergency appt with ENT.

So that was quick summary of what's going on, to thew question. He takes the painkillers and anoth med (lactulose) alright, but does anyone have any ideas of how to get him to take the one he doesn't like? Or anyone else have this problem? Bribing won't work as it has already been tried, he listens to men more and his grandfather and great-grandfather have tried encouraging him, but once they're off the phone I'm back to the same situation.
