A staff member, who would best be described as off oriental origin, grabbed my left shoulder and lunged at my phone..

Just wondering how ethnic origin has any relevance at all to this saga - or is that symptomatic of your general attitude?

I had no idea you could'nt take photos instore. I often take a picture on my phone to send to oh to ask what he thinks of an item i'm wanting to buy.

Tesco acted incorrectly in this situation , who cares if this person took a banana out of a bag or not , or went to take a picture ....do they deserve to be mishandled for this? The law says no.

This person was going to pay for the goods but Tesco wouldn't honor the discount , then this person has every right to refuse the goods.

If i was you i would be getting my solicitor on to the case right away , nobody deserves to be assaulted in any form....at the very least i would want this person sacked.

Also maybe the OP mentioned the person ethnic origin because new settlers to this country sometimes don't have an idea to our customs and behavior.

I don't obviously have a clue if the person in Tescos is a new settler or not but I'm just giving a possibility to maybe why the OP mentioned the ethnic origin.

I've experienced bad behavior from new settlers to this country and some bad attitudes ,a woman was screaming at a man with a Labrador dog saying it might attack her baby and telling him to get of the bus , I've seen it happen a few times.

Trouble is society is to politically correct and you cant even have ago at someone of a different colour these days without someone saying your raciest...its gone beyond a joke.

I think if people want or need to come to this country they need to learn our customs and how we live & if they don't like it then leave , anyway I'm going off track here but just wanted to get it off my chest:D

And with regard to me taking photographs, in the words of the afforementioned police officer - they didnt ask you permission to record you on their cctv did they, so its certainly not illegal to take a photograph. All they can do is ask me to leave, which they did not do.

I'm having trouble accepting that the police officer actually said this

Tesco don't need your permission, you are on thier property and there will be a notice somewhere near the entrance that states you will be recorded on CCTV (I think it's a legal requirement).

If you don't agree then you don't enter the store.

By taking a photograph of a banana your obviously threatening them attempting to get them into trouble. No-one likes people like that so thats why you ended up with hostility. Why didn't you just get another bag? Was it the last one left? If not, did you want the one with the dodgy banana just to make a scene?

I know that legally if a customer is asked to leave then refuses then it's fine by the law to used reasonable force to remove them. I'm not sure with the photo taking what happens here.

Tesco are a big supermarket and they have systems in place to deal with damaged stock, and rotten fruit. It would not be in Tesco's interests to leave bad fruit out.

The system will be someone probably checks it at the end of the day and maybe in between. What do you mean "systems in place" Radar? Lasers that come out of the ceiling and blow anything it as soon as it develops an imperfection?

I think sometimes people think there are amazing scientific systems to do everything if a company is big. To find off fruit, it will be someone checking at a certain time, thats all.

Memeber of staff got funny with me in Morrisons cause i asked her how long the cooked chickens had been there for as they looked very dry and terrible condition , she didnt know and i told her u know they cant be longer then 2 hours , she just got funny with me......but when it comes to my health and other peoples i take matters like this seriously.

But with a banana i dont see why you did have to kick a fuss about taking a picture of it ,why didnt you just leave them and if you wasnt happy dont shop in that store again?

I don't shop in Morrisons anymore cause i wasn't happy with the service....i dont like places what think having possible food poisoning chickens is a laughing matter.
  • I am sure you wont make such a slip up in future. Did you a peel for any witnesses. I hate stories like this they get under my skin.
