Could you let me know why you chose to call yourself Mozart33? Was it because the other 32 were already taken?
It looks like transfer was blocked, not account.0 -

The title of the thread is
Santander blocked account- help!0 -
Desperate user, not sure what happened. But later explanation suggests it was just transfer, since husband used the card in shop.
It still doesn't justify pages of discussion between old users, not helping the OP.0 -
Santander is my husband’s account and so is the loan from M&S. Barclays is in my name where we chose to keep the funds.0

Yes they do, because my husband gave them the copy of the loan contract0

UPDATE
Not much of an update.... just reading the comments and some of them actually do help.., a bit
I’ll address some points raised in the discussion.
Yes, the person in the branch actually told my husband this was due to suspicion of ML- I found that surprising as surely they should not be giving such information out??
My husband has received a call from complaints dept (although he hasn’t raised one?). They apologised for inconvenience and just said they don’t know how long the investigation will be.. I don’t really understand where this call came from.. we are considering making a complaint, but should we go to them or straight to the ombudsmen? How can that actually help us?0 -

Mozart33 was told they'd have to wait for the investigation to be concluded. Mozart33's own words said the account (not just the transfer) had been blocked due to ML suspicions. No bank would have released that piece of information to any customer. This piece of information (amongst other incredible complications) suggests (to me) that this is just another one of those fabricated threads designed to set us up. That is why OP has never come back.
Edit - But has come back whilst I was writing this post. This was my point! The process of money laundering is at the start once its clean you cant do a online transfer for money laundering! It simply does not work! The purpose of money laundering is transferring dirty money into clean..... you cannot transfer dirty money!
The examples given up about 20k being paid into too an account then they transfer it to another to take their cut etc etc. That is fraud not money laundering!!!!
You've misinterpreted me, xlnc99. I'm saying the money isn't laundered until you access it in clean form. Depositing 'dirty' money doesn't make it clean and an online transfer of 'dirty' money could quite easily be a step in the process of trying to clean it. You can transfer 'dirty' money any time you like if it doesn't get spotted as 'dirty' and it remains 'dirty' until you successfully use/withdraw it (in my opinion).0 -

But to be honest, it probably won't make any difference as the ML investigation needs follow its natural conclusion.I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.
I love my job0 -
I've heard of some instances (similar scenarios as here - where customers money has been frozen) and customer has complained to the ombudsman before the 8 week period in which bank has to respond, and they've been successful.
I think the 8 week period applies in most cases, but if you complain to ombudsman before this, and the ombudsman thinks the business has not had the opportunity to respond he/she will write to the business and give it time to respond.
I seriously doubt that a bank can take their own time as a matter of course quoting 'ML suspicion'.0 -
Instead of going back and forth on the ML discussion,
If everything is as you have explained at the OP then there is no reason at all the bank should hold on to your money for more then 24 hours. Its quite a simple explanation and a very simple money trail for the bank to follow.
If they are still holding on to the funds until now then its clear you have omitted some details0
