You have four months from the date of the offence to do your course. If you are offered a course, you are advised to take this at the earliest opportunity. When you pay for the course the money is taken then, in full. You cannot pay in installments.Nattylou74 wrote: »So I have 4 months to pay?
The fine for penalty points is due within 28 days of being informed of this, in full.0 -

What if I go to court? What happens then?
How much is your car worth? You could sell it, pay the fine and then use whatever is left to buy another (albeit cheaper) car.
Alternatively, just sell the car anyway so you won't be tempted to endanger other people again.0 -

That's true if you book and pay online but, if you phone your local course provider and speak to someone, at least some (if not all) will accept a deposit when booking and the rest later - as long as it's fully paid before the course date.
Obviously, if you don't make the payment as agreed you lose your place and will end up in court for the speeding.0 -
Not wanting to make the situation worse but don't forget you have to also inform your insurance company when you get the points (NOT at renewal) so they may want more money.
When I got my 3 points (first in 37 years) my insurance wanted another £70 for the balance of 9 months left on the policy.Totally Debt Free & Mortgage Free Semi retired and happy0 -
If offered, take the SAC, not the points. Points mean an increase in your premium. No free lunch, and no free laptop

AFAIK, it's only Admiral that do this. Correct, a hike in the premium may not apply, but why take the chance? No free lunch, and no free laptop
