No
and as you now know your argument about your situation is not a defence ,in fact its more reason to drive within the limit as your head was clearly not on your driving.
as has been said admit it and you may get a driving course for one of the offences, saving £10 and 3 points.
+1 to all of that.
Its just a matter of admitting it, and then seeing how it pans out then dealing with that.
Nothing to worry about and the worst case scenario is 6 points and £200.
No point in worrying about things you cant change.0 -
Is there any way of checking if the section of road is dual carriage way, as 68mph seems a weird speed and I could have been overtaking. My speedo is 5 miles out, its checked against my sat nav, so if it shows 65, I'm actually driving at 60mph.0

All of which is irrelevant.
They've clocked you at 68mph on a calibrated device in a 60mph zone.0 -
While you were driving down it...? Count the carriageways. Not lanes, carriageways. Oh, and while a DC is 70 default, it could still have a 60 limit, signed as such.Nattylou74 wrote: »Is there any way of checking if the section of road is dual carriage way
Or now? Just check on google streetview.
So your speedo was showing low-mid 70s at the time.as 68mph seems a weird speed and I could have been overtaking. My speedo is 5 miles out, its checked against my sat nav, so if it shows 65, I'm actually driving at 60mph.
Take the FPs you'll be offered. Don't go to court - your mitigation won't work, and you'll end up paying much more.
If you're offered a speed awareness course, taking it won't save much money. But you might learn something that will help you avoid future tickets, no matter the stress of the situation...0 -
The limit in a 60 zone is 60. The guideline is that 110% plus 2 is the starting point for action, so in simplistic terms 67 is OK, 68 is not.Is the 68, in a 60 zone just within the limit assuming it’s 10% +2 mph ?, so it could be an awareness course, or am I missing something...?
But it should qualify for a course, provided the other criteria are met.0 -
Each offence is a £100 fine. You may be offered an alternative Driving Awareness Course, at £85 - £100 for one of the offences. Expect 3 - 6 points on your licence. Payment is in full within the 4 month time limit. Don't delay.0

It used to be 28 days for a ticket.0
