That isn't how debt and borrowing work.
Go read an economics book or something.0 -
From OP's given figures we've derived annual earnings at £27k.
If, as they claim, they regularly work 60 hour weeks, and we assume 4 weeks annual leave a year, that's barely above £9 per hour.
From a job they've been working at for 32 years.0 -

.
. Can the poster who mentioned her son inform us of the percentage the employer (tax payer) is contributing i bet its more than her son is
Why though. Why compared yourself. Why not just concentrate on your family.
So many people have asked you to post a full incoming and outgoing but you haven't so I don't think you actually want help. In which case go and moan on the discussion thread, you might you enjoy that board more.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -

Read your second sentence back, and ask yourself, what did you actually mean to type?0 -

Yes, someone else doesn’t need the money at the moment, so they lend it to you for a return. There’s nothing wrong with that at all. Both sides get what they want from the deal; why do you think that what two consenting adults do would be wrong?
I’ll ask again, why will you not write in coherent English? Are you too important to worry about such fripperies? Do you write like this at work?0 -
OP, some people don't realise & just evangelise without thinking. Clearly you appear to be doing OK & your thoughtless freinds are at best thoughtless. In the end, you don't know if they are whistling in the dark or not, and your circumstances are not their business.
Just start weeding the christmas card list (we found going electronic very convenient for that). Means if your OH wishes to cut contact you can still send an occasional email.
As for the never done a hand's turn & her OH just retired - the novelty will wear off. Then the shoe may start to pinch & never having worked will make her a burden.
Finally, how you relax is your choice. Do not let others saying "Oooh you must holiday in the Congo or aboard the graceless container ship" spoil your pleasure in sitting with your feet up & a cuppa in one hand.
If you need a big money event, stroll on over to debt free wannabee, & post an soa - everything they say is a potent tonic to the have and bragging bunch. When you have the choice, you'll know exactly how it's being paid for.0 -
I earn significantly less than the OP but still managed a nice holiday. Granted it was in this country and in a caravan out of peak season but it was still (to me) a nice holiday and we had a lot of fun and amazingly for this country, lovely weather, I came back looking like I had been somewhere exotic.
I budget hard for it though with money put away every week and my spending money whilst away is minimal (£10 to £15 per day for food, fun and fuel) but a holiday is what you make it and I much prefer to have a holiday (albeit a cheapy one) every year than spend out on stuff that I really don't need the rest of the year.
I also pay into a private pension each month as I don't earn enough for a work based one, do not have credit cards, loans or an overdraft and never put anything on finance.
A holiday is possible if you really want one.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

You are the one that is lecturing people about what they can and cannot afford.0 -
I love threads and posts from bitter and jealous people. Especially the ones who think those who have nice houses, cars and holidays must be up to their eyeballs in debt, rather than worked their way up or built a business and are capable of counting to avoid spending more than they earn. Makes me all warm inside.0
