Just thought I would check to see if my plants in the greenhouse were ok to find probably nearly a dozen snails in plants and on pots. They have even managed to munch their way through one of my marigold plants. What with those and those little spiders both are making my greenhouse a right cosy little home for themselves.
I don't remember last year being like this.Did owe £9,951.96

Ive had the same problems with slugs n snails, I hate the blighters, and over the years, ran out of salt (ultimate weapon). However, as salt cant be good for the plants, last year I found a solution, and its proved effective through to this year.
B&Q sell a snail spray repellant, you simply spray it on the plant pots, and it adds a salty film around the pots. it lasts for about 5 weeks, but outdoor pots might need a respray if its been pouring down with rain, but one bottle lasts all year round. I think it costs about £4.
I promise you will find it great value, and an essential item, the plants will thank you"doesnt work on spiders tho"

Copper band lynsey works every time, copper reacts with the ground/soil to produce a small electrical charge which prevents them eating the plants.0

If you use containers which have a lip or overhang and have snails munching the plants, during the day, run your fingers round under the lip [wear gloves if you are squeamish] and you might find snails lurking there waiting for a chance of a feed.
Did this today and found 2 whopping snails lurking under the lip of my hosta container :eek:0 -
in my old house we had a normal garden and had tonnes of snails - it wsn't worth planting anything!
now, the house/garden is 'surrounded by stone walls and stones/gravel - and i rarely ever see a snail! i think the stones make it impossible for the blighters to get in.
do you think this is true - or are we just lucky? we do have grass also, but the front, sides and inbetween bits are all gravel.0 -
Went down to the allotment the other day, and found a snail about 8 inches up my runner beans - how on earth did it get up there ?
Needless to say, he was quickly removedYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0
