We also like to stay at home, manly because we dont like going out and leaving the kids, last year we planned to do the bbq thing but it started raining so i just cooked the food indoors.
We invite all our friends round some who come all night other who just pop in for half hour between visiting pubs family ect.
I put on a big buffet ask everyone to bring drinks or food, and we dont really party just chat watch tv together and if the mood takes us the karoke comes out at midnight!!
Its sort of a night in but with friend round.

  • over christmas we spend alot of time with family and obviously having 3 kiddies christmas is child friendly not to much in the way of booze or money. On new years eve we get the kids to bed early cook a beautiful grown up 3 course meal that we set a budget for of say £8. We both dress up like we were going to a fancy restaurant and have a candlelit meal with music and great food, we're usually to busy ;-) at midnight to notice anyone but each other. It a great way of welcoming in the new year..

jeez!! im glad that there seem to be really normal ppl!! i alway thought everyone else did extravagant things and thats partly why its depressing ive always felt that i should be doing something amaaaazing.

My parents never did anything for New Year, so I grew up with thinking most people went to bed as normal on New Years Eve!

When I was with my ex, we used to travel down and see his friends and relatives for New Year. We'd usually go to someones house and a group of people would be invited. We'd have drinks and a buffet where everyone brought a plate of food, and play board games and stuff. It was fun.

With hubby, I was ill with Norovirus on our first New Year so I spent that one alternating between sleeping and throwing up :o

We've worked the other New Years and will be working this one as well.
Here I go again on my own....

Nothing, it's only the calendar that tells me it's New Year. Our New Year is 22nd December....

due to a serious lack of babysitters, we have decided in the dorry house, that the new going out is staying in:j

Last year we bought buzz for the ps2 and all had a great night playing each other. I am going to buy new version this year and will make a buffett tea and drink lots of

we have a family tradition of cooking a new years day lunch, normally leg of lamb and all the trimmings :D

My Hubby hates NYE. He says that you might as well say "Happy New Day" ...he just doesn't get it......
This year we are travelling to Tenby to see Great Nanny Wales (as my 3 year old calls her) so we will spend it in Pembroke Dock travelodge!!!

past two years we have gone to friends, not a big event by any means, just a handful of couples. party food and the playstation, play games like buzz, sing star.

not sure if we are doing the same this year but its better than staying at home or going to pub/club

DH and I take it in turns (and have done for the past 5 or so years) with two other couples to host NYE. They're my university friends and their partners and the night always includes a large 3 course meal, plenty of wine and sitting around chatting. No huge p*ss up, just a good excuse to all sit round chatting putting the world to rights.

We DID try to invite other couples, to make it more of a party BUT they always seemed to be ill at the last minute (for 3 years in a row!!!)........
