Whereas a child hit at 30 in a 30 is absolutely loving life...

The chances of a pedestrian being killed when hit at 40 are *significantly* higher than those of a pedestrian hit at 30.

There will be more kids run over while drivers are driving with their eyes glued to the speedo to avoid going at 31 mph and only taking an occasional glance out of the windscreen. The tolerance for instrument driving seems to be getting tighter than a commercial pilots instrument rating.

    Obvious falsehood is obvious.

Yes, I may be one of those two, maybe not because your list is by no means exhaustive. If that places me alongside Pepipoo's "armchair lawyers" that's a cross I'll just have to bear. But the bottom line is whether you believe me or not is of absolutely no interest to me.

But petty bickering aside, I would be interested to see a NIP for a speed below the NPCC's threshold. I'm not suggesting they are never issued although I have seen numerous reports of them here and elsewhere. I've never seen one and neither have quite a few other people I know who take an interest in these matters.

So they exist then but you have your doubts because you've never see one.

I'd say your experience is simply down to the interest you have in such matters and reading online forums.

And the chances of a pedestrian hit at 30 being killed are *significantly* higher than those of a pedestrian who isn't hit, because everybody was actually paying attention to what they were meant to be doing.

I've seen reports of the Loch Ness Monster but I don't know whether it exists.

If you say so. Best leave it at that.

My cousin was done for doing 42 in a 40 in Tyne & Wear area. This was a long time ago though (25+ years).

People used to be hanged for stealing sheep. Equally irrelevant.

The difference is that people really were hung for stealing sheep.

I suspect the apocryphal cousin was trying desperately to downplay by claiming it wasn't really a 30 limit.

No, they were hanged. (They may also have been hung, but that's a different story;)).

Lancashire police have recently allowed 1mph more, they now prosecute at 10% + 3mph. Just my luck to have been caught 2 weeks previous to this at 35mph.
