Rental property damaged

You seriously think anyone is going to buy these properties with tenants in situ?
Maybe a private sale. But it would depend on the conveyancing. Obviously the sale has to go through legally. Otherwise it would just be a DIY LR transfer. But really it needs to be a proper sale.
For a professional LL I think it would be ok. Not my cup of tea, but some are keen still. Especially if they're buying via ltd co. etc.0 -

Because professional landlords often take on unlicenced HMOs filled with illegal immigrants....0 -

So how has your cousin been passing that money to the landlord? Posting envelopes of tenners?
Regardless, once any government agency is involved (environmental health, the courts for eviction, the council for rehousing) and they know that rent is/was being paid, HMRC will not be far behind. I am sure they have enough Czech translators to discuss it with one of the tenants if you/the cousin/the landlord aren't inclined to tell them.
"Obvious reasons"? Deliberate tax evasion then, doesn't go down well...0 -

Yes, obviously it's tax evasion. (but the LL would probably make just as much if he did things by the book and deducted expenses etc. But he doesn't and he won't).
I don't know what my cousin did with the cash. I know he ''collected it for the LL''. I presume he just kept the cash and now owes the LL the money, which he will hand over all in cash whenever the LL returns (which he does every few months).0 -

The LL and my cousin have a different surname to me. Nothing in my name is linked to that house. The tenants don't know my name.
One thing I don't know (because it's not been any of my business really), is the council tax / election register situation.
If the tenants are down on the list and the LL on the land register, then it will be quite obvious to the govt that it's a rental property with tax due.0 -
Either way Peter...its advised that you never use your real name on forums...have a read of even MSE's guidelines if you are still unsure.
Just a friendly reminder that even though you don't come out with information in one post a series of posts can actually reveal more about you than you realise especially if someone is that interested.in S 38 T 2 F 50
