I went on Aviva's website who quoted me..... So I saved money, got a better service......
Maybe you should do a search for customers opinion of aviva service and you may think you might want to take advantage of the cooling off period!

Hi all,
I'm 30 and it's about time I got my driving license sorted out once and for all!My wife has bought me an M-Reg Fiat Panda as an early b/day present for me and she was looking to get me a new insurance policy as the name driver with me as an additional driver (as I only have a provisional still).
What's the best way to go about it? Best quote so far has been around £425 for 3rd party, but are there are extra special tricks to look for in this instance?
Any and all help would be genuinely appreciated, as I need to learn, but I can't afford to over spend on the insurance!
Thanks in advance!0 -

I had a claim in Mar 2009 which affected my NCB but now i have got 1 yrs NCB. The problem is insurares do consider my UK exp as 2yrs they only consider it as 1 yr (from time i got Full UK license).
The quotes are so high (Much higher than value of my car £500) that i feel like stop driving. I am 27 so age doent help either. My previous 2 yr insurance was (600 Compr for year 1 -- throught broker heavy discount) and (685 TPFT using MSE).
My best quotes so far..
TPFT using MSE is 610 (moneyexpert.com included 25£ cashback)
Can someone please suggest me other options as i need to renew befor 23rd April. Is there an insurer out there who can consider foreign national plight
Try getting quotes for Comprehensive cover as they are often cheaper than TPF&T0 -
A great tip I've learnt from this website is that by changing my job title or by adding additional drivers I can get cheaper quotes using price comparison websites.
I have a few questions however:
i) I can add up to 3 additional drivers on some sites - but what are the restrictions to this? Also, what implications does this have for the additional driver? It's helped to add my uncle for instance, knocking around £50 from my quote price.
ii) My dad has been in an out of employment but will soon start working again. I entered him as an additional driver and put his future job as his employment. The quote I got valid until May 1st and he should have started working by then. I managed to knock another £50 off my quote this way. Is this ok to do or could it invalidate my policy - for instance if the insurers check his details and see that he has only just started etc?
iii) Finally I am thinking that I will call my existing insurer and tell them I have a better quote off the internet. But how should I properly haggle for a price match/reduction from them? Should I threaten to cancel my policy first, or just cancel and sign up as a new user (on the same day/next day?) with new details?
All help will be much appreciated!

if you add additional drivers make sure you check with them first, that they haven't any points on licence or they haven't made any claims in the past few years. They may not have told you....
If your dad genuinely does start employment before the policy starts then you'll be ok. If you can, wait until after he starts before taking the policy out with the provider. I wouldn't add him on if he won't be starting work until after the policy starts... that's giving incorrect information.
Give your existing provider the details of the extra drivers too, it may reduce the premium with them too!Indecision is the key to flexibility0 -
My work has moved up into london so I don't really need my car. Me and my girlfriend are thinking of selling our cars and buying a better one to share, only she will be using it to drive to work so the policy will be under her name with me as a named driver.
Trouble is I don't really want to loose my 11 years no claims bonus. What are my options??0 -

take it in turns to insure. As long as you're honest about who the main driver is you'll be fine.
You should note that most companies have max ncb set at 5 years.I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

i found a really cheap car insurance provider, they gave me the lowest of quotes ! all depending on how you use your car and how much you drive it, it could work out cheap for you too !. i strongly suggest that anyone looking to renew looks at this provider, they are called COVERBOX, A free tracker is included in the premium, this tracks your vehicle if it is stolen, it also tracks the amount of milage, and c02 emissions.
The way it works is that you give them an estimated annual millage, but it is best to give a true estimate as this could affect your renewal with them, for example, if you estimated 5000 miles in a year and did over that estimate, your next years premiums would be higher, but if you stay below or dont do as many miles as your estimate it could work out very cheap for you to renew, and your next years premiums would be cheaper than your first with them ! They also track whether you drive at peak or off peak time, this is also included in your estimate..........Anyway this could be a cheaper option for some..............so check it out !0 -
