Thank you dacouch - guess, I will give that one a miss!
Yes, I did search the thread but nothing came up. Must be me.....6 hours of car insurance searches. I remember the days when our broker did it all for us!0 -
Insurance companies ask if you had an accident, even if it is not your fault.
If an accident took place where the other party admitted full liability, and where your insurance company stated it would not affect the no-claims bonus, would it increase your premium when you next apply for insurance?
Thanks.0 -
Hiya can anyone help me i am trying to get the cheapest insurance for my patner on an audi a4 2.4, he has only been driving since june 2009 and is 34 yrs old. all the compare web sites are way to expensive, does anyone know where to get the cheapest for new drivers that don't cost and arm and leg.
any ideas to nikkiwalkett@yahoo.co.uk please

I have 9 yrs no claims bonus and have been paying extra to protect it as long as I can remember, it is now another £50 on top of any premium I have been quoted, just wondering how it would work if I didn't protect and then was involved in an accident, would I lose all my no claims or just part of it?
Also is it worth paying the extra for legal protection, I have aa breakdown cover and they said it included legal protection, but am i right in thinking that it will be a different kind of protection altogether.
TIA bbIf you don't have something nice to say don't bother saying anything at all.0 -

All insurance companies are different but technically it shouldn't. The exception would be if you made a habit of being involved in accidents but always claimed off the other party (i.e. made no claims off your own insurance).0 -

Thanks for your reply. The exception you refer to does not apply in my case. I am discovering that different insurance companies have different sets of questions. I just feel it is very unfair, if one has a fairly good record, to have to pay a higher premium when an accident is not one's fault. In my experience Sheila's Wheels is one of such companies.

Lol!!! I wouldn't insure you that's for sure!
Also, have you thought about not driving children in your car? Do your children's friend's parents know about your history?
I think anyone with 5 or more accidents in 10 years should be made to drive with an amber flashing light and a speed limiter set to 30mph – let alone seven accidents in 10 years!
To top it all off she's annoyed with the INSURANCE company!! Should be glad she ever got insurance in the first place with that record!
Thank you for your extremely supportive post. As you clearly take such delight in mocking the misfortunes of others, perhaps you should take your witty repartee to a wider audience than MSE and consider a career as a comedian?
I fail to see the relevance about what you say about driving children in my car. We were driving to collect my daughter from a birthday party, but what the heck, you've already taken a pop at my driving skills even though my husband was actually at the wheel at the time. Details clearly don't figure in your brand of comedy, so why not take a crack at my parenting skills as well?
Not only has transpired that the driver who hit my car was uninsured, but the garage charged with repairing my car cannot correct the fault with the tracking which has resulted from the accident. The car is barely a year old, but may now have to be written off.
As you so clearly take delight in mocking the misfortunes of others, this news will no doubt be the icing on the cake of your clearly perfect driving record. If you ever have the misfortune to be be the victim of an accident or accidents which were not your fault (and I am clearly not the only person on here affected by this), I hope you will not be expecting any sympathy from the rest of us.
I dare say you have never had an accident in your life and think very little of people who do have accidents, even when such accidents are not their fault, but I find your comments to be in extremely bad taste.0 -
I'll be getting my new car soon, but my insurance with my existing car doesn't run out until next July.
So, do i behave as a new customer and find the best deal for my new car or do i have any obligations with my existing insurance contract?
Thanks for the help0 -

For a fairly small sum (depending on the difference in cars) your company will probably swap the policy to the new car for the remainder of the current policy.0
