Hi everyone,
I'm currently insured with the Post Office. I'm coming up to renewal and have just used all the price comparison sites to get quotes. Post office is still coming up as the cheapest as it includes £50 cashback - but- that's for new customers. (the comparison site say the price and then 'includes £50 cashback' - does that mean they've subtracted £50 from the premium?)
Is there any way I can get round this? the post office do auto renewal so if i ring them and say i want to cancel at the end of my current policy, can i then be a new customer and get a new policy with them for my next year? do they do that thing companies sometimes do where if you cancel with them you cant join again for 30 days or something?
Here's some figures if it helps.
my renewal quote is 263.81 (wouldnt be able to go through a cashback site then would I?)
Moneysupermarket gave me the best quote £167.78 (includes £50 cashback)
The next best on there was Endsleigh £243.37 (includes legal cover)
Thanks for any advice0 -
I've just renewed my car insurance with Lloyds TSB, having been with Prudential. They are both underwritten by Churchill!!, but there was a £72.70 difference in their quotes, and both offered exactly the same terms!! With cashback, I've actually saved £171.70 on Pru's renewal premium, a saving of nearly 41%. (By the way, that includes Green Flag Recovery Plus)
Thanks, Martin for putting me wise to these tips. Your TV show came just at the right time!0 -
qhiker- I have just done the same as you but I wish I could have spoken to you before as you could have got it even cheaper- if you had left it at the original online quote and gone through quidco they are giving £23.80 cashback !
my renewal from budget was £111- done martins comparison and got a quote from post office for £108-wow three quid! BUT.... £50 cashback from post office and £23.80 cashback from quidco=£34.20!!!!!0 -
Dear All,
After reading Martin's guide on reducing car insurance (which I have copied below) I decided to use Tesco as I have a clubcard and would like the clubcard points and also 50 quid. Anyway I bought the insurance (which was £51 cheaper than my renewal quote) and tried to use both codes below (i,e 'ccpoints0108'. and 'shop50') but the website only allows for one code. I entered the shop50 code and called Tesco, they informed me that it is not possible to use both codes at the same time.
I decided to take the clubcard vouchers and not the £50.
I am happy with the renewal price and also the clubcard points, but it would have been lovely to get the £50 as well.....
This is my first post, so I would like to say thankyou to Martin and Co for their super website.
Tesco. Tesco* has two offers for new insurance customers. Its credit card customers can get 500 clubcard points a month for a year (worth £240 in clubcard deals) when they pay for the insurance on their credit card and quote code 'ccpoints0108'. The offer lasts until 31 Mar 08.
It is also offering £50 off shopping or fuel at Tesco to clubcard customers who buy insurance by 2 Apr 08 and quote code 'shop50'. The £50 is in the form of a voucher.0 -
I need insurance for 1/3/08, would I get a Tesco Credit Card in time for this renewal as the 500 points a month sound very good?
ALSO what cashback site can I use to buy the insurance and get cashback? Never used any before is this possible with Tesco online insurance?
Cheers0 -
Even after checking the comparison sites my hubbys existing renewal was the cheapest with the lowest excess. Although this was the case I told hubby to tell them we had got another quote cheaper. The upshot was that they increased the milage allowance and reduced the premium by £30.The best bargains are priceless!!!!!!!!!! :T :T :T0

If you are renewing your Admiral Multicar insurance - do yourself a favour and check individual quotes with Admiral on line. We have four cars on one policy, all of them were much cheaper as individual quotes. When you ring Admiral renewals they will generally honour the price you have been given individually. We saved over £400 on our renewal! Some might say Admiral are chancing their arm with multi car renewals, they claim you can save 23% on single car quotes...definately not in our case without alot more time on the PC.0 -
Could anyone clarify whether you have to insure directly with Tesco to qualify for the £50 voucher?
I just bought from privilege through the Tesco website, and wondering whether that qualifies or not.0 -
No, but you do get 500 clubcard points if you bought priviledge through the Tesco comparison site.
The £50 voucher is for buying Tesco's own insurance.
If its not too late, cancel the policy then buy it again through quidco. You get £60 cashback for taking out a priviledge insurance policy via quidco.0 -
I have studiously followed the correct course for obtaining quotes for car insurance on the last few occasions that my renewal has been due. This year I took advantage of a quote that was £30 cheaper but which also had free Green Flag recovery and £105 cashback from Prudential via Topcashback. To date,I haven't seen the £105 and there seems to be several disgruntled customers on the site having similar problems. It would seem that Prudential aren't as reliable as others(Lloyds,Zurich,AA) as previously I have had no problems obtaining cashback. Wondered if anyone else had similar problems with Prudential and whether phoning them direct is more likely to bring results than waiting for the cashback site?0
