  • "I hope I have come to the right thread!

My daughter is about to turn 17 and wants to drive, we have a peugeot 206 that we wish to pass onto her if and when she passes her test!

My query is my daughter is a diabetic insulin dependant type 1 and wishes to have her own insurance cover for the vehicle. Does anybody know or has anybody came across a good 'cheap' reputable insurance company that caters for this type of insurance problem if at all it is a problem.

I have read this insurance forum but have been unsuccessful in a thread of this nature any help or direction as mentioned above to insurers would be gratefully appreciated."

Just to let you know that there are some car insurance companies who don't need to know about your medical conditions, as long as your doctor says that it is ok for you to drive then they will cover you, but discuss it with them.
  • With the promotion with Tesco, in order for you to get the promotion the clubcard has to be in the policyholder's name. So, it might benefit you to get a clubcard in your name just to get the promotion! Also, the question about how would you find out if the promotion code is added, ring Tesco customer service and they will let you know!

hello to cut a long story short ive allways had company vehicles and now in my present employment im not so ive decided to get a small run around.partner has car with me as named driver and ive no no claims discount 3 points on liscence 3 yeas ago. and claimed for a stolen motorcycle last year. now im getting quotes back of (highest was 1600 quid. about a grand was average on a car that is worth about 500 quid i find this absolutly agrevating! apparently im still classed as a young driver i will be 27 next month and ive been driving over 9 years why am my quotes so high whats the best way to get them down? i pay 115 quid as a named driver on my partners insurance and they want a grand for me to drive a banga!!!!
any help with this would be great
    :confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

Check with the insurance companies as some do company car no claims bonus, where you can take your company car driving history across to them, but check with them what the criteria would be!
  • Many companies allow a named driver on someone else's policy to gain no claims bonuses. I am a named driver on my wife's policy and her premium is cheaper than if she was the only driver, which is a bit odd. She is a named driver on mine and it's a little bit dearer than if she wasn't.
For anyone wondering why we bother being named drivers on each other's policies when we both have fully comp insurance then it's because unless you do that, you are only covered to drive someone else's vehicle as third party insurance, not fully comp.
Many people are aware of this but equally as many are not. I wasn't and found out the hard way

the reason why it may be cheaper, is that you may get a discount for putting your spouse or partner on the policy may be due to the risk of you making a claim being lower. Please check with your insurance company about the third party only cover, fully comprehensive insurance covers you for repairs to the third parties vehicle, fire and theft and also repairs to your own vehicle, it does not necessarily mean that you can automatically drive someone else's car if you are not on their insurance policy. The best thing for you to do is to ring your insurance company and ask them what their stance is regarding driving someone else's car without you being on their policy.

Dont forget, although you may have secured nice and cheap car insurance, what you pay for is what you get. Often (not always, but more often then not) the cheaper insurance will provide your vehicle with the cheapest method of repair. ie extensive repairs where other insurers would have replaced the panel/part without question. The lovely cheap premium you secure has a knock on effect, it = less money for the 'greedy' insurance companies. This means when they cant make their big juicey profits, and outsourcing employment to the likes of bloomin india, minimizing staff and expenditures no longer saves enough money, then they have to spend less somewhere else. The last place to save money is when paying out on their customers claims, which brings us to the point above. There are plenty of insurers who are happy to follow the correct and professional repair methods to make a customers vehicle as it was before the accident, this is your right as a paying customer to the insurer. Some insurance companies are drastically cutting the the quality of the methods used which saves them a huge amount of money .... at your expense! Several insurers are putting huge pressure on the bodyshops by offering very low hourly rates, combined with cheaper repair methods means many repair centres are finding it harder and harder to stay in business. This turns the focus of repairs on quantity not quality.
When ever you have a car repaired, DO NOT be affraid to have a good look around, look under the car, under the boot carpet, open the bonnet, open all the doors and look inside the door shuts and on the backs of the doors, even at the front by the hinges. Its your right to have your vehicle repaired properly and correctly, regardless of the premium you pay. However please remember when your angry because something is wrong after you car is repaired, its very likely that they have only done what the insurance company have told them to do.

  • Hi there, I am trying to source campervan insurance for my friends son who is 17 (still to pass his test). The only quote we have is for £2000. Can anyone help me tell me who I should contact to get a cheaper quote and can I really get it for less than £2000.
    Thanks

This is a question , which bare's something to do with the above person's question. Lets assume you use all the comparison service and put in your details and the details of the vehicle, it then gets sent to the various insurance companies. They will now have your details. Lets say after that, you go to one of these cashback sites, and go through them to buy your insurance deal (assuming they have the company providing you with the deal you want), will you still get your cashback? The reason i ask is, the Insurance company may already have your details from the Comparison Site, before you went via the cashback site, hence voiding the cashback. (this is just a theory)?

£41.75 cashback absolutely amazing, well even the £141.75 is amazing.

it's about the only bonus for being old and grey!!
  • Hi all hubby just bought a second car - we will eventually sell the old one but for the time being need to make sure they are both insured. We are currently with Churchill but policy does not end until November. Is it worth switching companies for both cars, ie. just look for cheapest quote and switch or keep existing policy and take new one for new car? Any advice appreciated. Thanks.
    What larks eh Pip?
