    Given that the OP has told us in his first sentence that he has nearly a quarter of a million quid in the bank (not in one single bank I hope), one would have thought that his first stop for professional advice would be a solicitor, not an internet forum?
    Given his apparent naivety re. his paternal rights and assets, I'm hardly surprised that his ex is 'trying it on'.
    No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

    Regardless of the rights and wrongs of her behaviour, I am appalled that the OP would rather go bankrupt than support his own child. :(
