graphics card

i have just installed a graphics card into pcie slot but pc (win10) is not recognising the card. the primary display is set to 'auto' in the bios so i thought that the system should recognise the card and override the internal graphics. i am reluctant to set the primary display to pcie just incase i then have no graphics…

Have you actually changed the BIOS settings to force the computer to use the PCIE slot for graphics?
Until you have done that you can't assume that.

Exactly. We've been through everything else I can think of, and OP has tested on another computer, but there really is no harm in risking having to clear the CMOS.
