Thank you. As per the court order it states
    3. defendant shall file and serve a defence by 5 nov 22.

I read this as I will be getting a defence from the claimant as well.

Sorry where are the 12 steps?

As VCS (represented by DCB Legal*) are the Claimant, why would you expect them to send you a defence?

Follow the 12 steps as mentioned above.

    * As VCS are using a legal representative, all comms to the Claimant should go to their legal rep.

And in those '12 steps' already mentioned, surely you have seen...

What do you think that means?

Sorry I must have missed. I’ll check

Do not use an N180 form sent to you by the claimant as it may be part filled in to their advantage and your detriment.
Either use one sent to you by the courts or download one and use that.

I believe the guide to court in the NEWBIES and the twelve-step guide in the template defence thread tell you what to do with your N180 form.
If you want a perfect example of why that advice is given, look what DCB Legal have placed in box D1 of the N180.

Do you fancy a trip from the south of England to the Sheffield County Court?  Thought not!
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

SoJacob shouldn't be following the 12 steps as she isn't dealing with a claim at the CCBC.

She is just post CCJ set aside, and is dealing directly with her local court only.

HOWEVER, she does need to download and send her local court a completed N180 especially if she has any plans to go abroad for a month again (that caused the CCJ in February!).

YOU MUST TELL THE COURT ABOUT YOUR UNAVAILABLE DATES!
