I topped up 2 days ago with MBNA, Barclaycard and Creation.

Edit: Barclaycard have charged a fee of £5.98 on a £200 top up. No fees so far on MBNA and Creation.
Do the fees show immediately or is there a delay before they appear (ie using Barclaycard online) ?

Useful information - thanks in advance

I don't know if the charge showed up immediately or not. I had been happily topping up for a couple of weeks without being charged, it was only when I saw the updates to this thread that I checked on the Barclaycard app and there was a charge for my top up on the 22nd but none for any of the previous top ups.

They should show at the same time as the transaction shows on your debits.

    Virgin Atlantic:

"We need to let you know that Mastercard have recently changed the way they treat top-ups to your Revolut account from your Virgin Atlantic Credit Card. From 17 January, using your Virgin Atlantic Credit Card to top up your Revolut card will be classed as a cash advance. This means there’s a fee for doing it.
We’ve only just been told this and couldn’t pass on the info any earlier. If you’ve made a Revolut top-up recently, you may spot a cash advance fee in your transactions. Don’t fret. We’ll be refunding that fee and we won’t charge any interest on that Revolut transaction. So you won’t lose out.
But it’s worth making a mental note that from now on future Revolut top-ups will be treated as cash advances, with a fee for doing them."
  • Hard time for CC top-uppers, especially if you don’t know that you will be charged or not. Last month Capital One started to charge, so be aware of this. I paid £6 for top-up my Revolut card by £200 (18th of January). And £12 for exceeded limit, because I didn’t know that they’re charging already and I didn’t follow my transactions in app - but it’s different story and my fault. So based on my experience:

Capital One - charging cash advance fee
NewDay (Aqua, Marbles, Amazon etc) - didn’t charge me BUT I made last transaction 11th of January, so be careful with those ones
Barclaycard - didn’t charge me for transaction made on 14th of January, so like above

So definitely don’t use Capital One credit cards and those branded by them (for example Ocean).

I have a bit off topic question, but maybe someone has experience with this. Is it allow to pay statement balance in few transactions or it has to be one, large single payment within full amount? For example, if you have limit like £1000, you used £700, is it mean that you have to pay £700 in one transaction or it could be split, for example £400 now and further £300 in the future (but before due day)?

You can make the payment in as many transactions as you like.

Thank you, it's very helpful. I always curious about it, because when I'm paying off my cards, always have 3 options: Payment requested, Statement balance and own amount. However, when I select last option, next time amounts are the same, so I was worry that system will count paying statement balance only if it's completed in one transaction by selecting this second option. Good to know that it's different.
  • I topped up using Marbles on 16th Feb, transaction posted 17th Feb (2 days ago) with apparently no fees.
  • so Amazon new day credit card, Barclays are considering Revolut transaction as cash advance.  does any one know if Halifax clarity, HSBC, Post Office (0% card) and Tesco (0% card) also considering as cash advance?
