Hopefully, Revolut are selectively discriminating against you by changing the way your continued excessive top-ups by credit card are treated, instead of removing the convenience of occasionally being able to top-up fee-free in this way for everyone because of their losses sustained in the abuse by such as yourself and others to whom you insist on publicising your cleverness.
If so, I applaud Revolut for penalising only the abusers and not their account holders in general who make use of all their various facilities. Merry Christmas to all..!
'Fraid this is no longer the case. Everyone topping up with Revolut will be transacting with the same merchant with MCC 4829. Some credit card issuers charge fees for transactions with such merchant, others don't.
If you want a cash advance from your credit card you could withdraw from an ATM or do a money transfer. Even if you were only doing small amounts, you are, or were still knowingly exploiting a loophole to get a cash advance for free at cost to Revolut. I'm not convinced there is a moral high ground to be taken here.0 -

Indeed. It's a pity to lose the possibility of fee-free Revolut top-up by credit card when occasionally convenient, but if enough people abused it by cycling funds to profit at Revolut's expense then obviously it couldn't last.
All of these loopholes have shelf lives though. Many financial institutions which offered free credit card top ups have either shut down or removed the function - off the top of my head, Finangel, NS&I, Smartpass, Supercard, Talkhome, The Range and so on.
I suspect the number of people using Revolut for this purpose was steadily increasing. Whether doing large or small amounts, for points, cashback or an interest free loan, it would have been adding up. No doubt people being charged by the credit card issuer for this in line with other cash advances will reduce this activity to a level Revolut have a budget for - until they do away with it completely!
There are still free ways of ripping the credit limit out of credit cards but it requires out of the box thinking. Revolut was too easy!0 -
I topped up 2 days ago with MBNA, Barclaycard and Creation.
Edit: Barclaycard have charged a fee of £5.98 on a £200 top up. No fees so far on MBNA and Creation.
I used my new Virgin card for the first time on the 18th and was charged a fee by Virgin. I assume they always did. I will use other methods from now on. I've still got another 20k I want to stooze.0 -
I have a Marriott credit card (from Creation). Is your experience that topping up Revolut via creation doesn't result in cash advance charges from Creation?
Is it possible to then just withdraw the cash from Revolut back to a bank account without any fees ?0 -
My Creation Card is an Asda one. I've never been charged a fee or interest for topping up with Revolut but I have just read that someone has been charged interest on the top up so proceed with caution.0

I've been topping up my Revolut card using my Asda card for the past few months but the strange thing was that it only ever seemed to work on a Saturday and Sunday and usually at the most one other day during the week (it would usually fail on a week day).
This week I managed to top up on 5 consecutive days, this has never happened before so I suspect this is related to the recent change and I will get charged interest so I have just paid the balance on my Asda card.0 -
