CCJ in my Mum’s name

  • I wasn’t criticizing you, just expressing sadness at the compensation culture among some sections of our society.

It’s understandable that mistakes like this are made when two adult women with the same name share an address. Has your mother settled the outstanding amount yet?

Don't have the same name, just same initials. OP hasn't said if CCJ has full names or just initials on.

I think a lot of people here comment on the compensation culture because you see posts where people look for compensation, not for actual harm but expecting it for the potential of caused stress etc and often the post is more concerned with whether compensation is possible rather than correcting errors.

I'd be tempted to Sar if we can the CRA to see the paper trail or how the info is transfered from the court to the CRA. We are told that other than having a joint account our credit file is our own this case just goes to show thats not correct or that the CRA is sloppy when adding CCJ's on peoples accounts.

Either way OP ignore the naysayers about compensation culture if this is causing you grief and extra work to sort this out note everything down and make a reasonable request when its deleted

i still can't believe people are still defending the CRA in this case

its not obvious that these mistakes happen and we should just shrug our shoulders and do the work that the CRA should have done originally.

your comment on if her mother has payed the debt yet might be interesting to you but i can't see the relevance of it ?

An SAR doesn't have to be in a form that's understandable to humans and I suspect in this case any data that's being transferred from one database to another is probably going to be gibberish.

yes good point your probably right

i think its free so if i was the OP thats what i would do she may be able to get some info but whether it would be in a readable form is another matter.
  • No-one’s defending the CRA, just pointing out how to get it corrected, and some of us, as an aside, are decrying a section of society. You know the sort, families who’ll not pay their debts but shout about compo when they’ve been mildly inconvenienced.

Some families are all about rights, never about responsibilities, and I find it sad.
  • Just get them removed that should be your main target to aim for.

If you feel you’ve suffered significant financial loss as a result then sure look for compo.

Personally I think you’re barking up a dead tree for compo.

your dislike for such families is your business but again this has nothing to do with the OP the sins of parents shouldn't fall on the children i would hope you and others would agree with that.

This is about the OP getting a CCJ on her file for no reason the fact that this highlights that the CRA system isn't good enough and needs improving should make us all interested in this case.

That is my priority, I just know this can all take time. I am slightly confused when it comes to Experian making the error on my credit file when I've noticed it with ClearScore too (which I believe is ran by Equifax?). Do the CRAs talk to each other or would it be worth me contacting the court who issued the CCJ if the info has come from them - just to make sure?

There are 3 main CRAs. It is possible they all have it. You should raise a dispute with all of them if they have. Your employer or lenders could check any of them.

They can all be checked free of charge through:-

    credit karma
    clearscore
    mse credit club
