CCJ in my Mum’s name

  • There was traffic on the roads once due to an accident and it didn’t make me late for work.

    Can I have compensation?

Experian said it was their error. I’ve come onto this forum for advice, not criticism. At the end of the day this has nothing to do with me and my only intention was (and still is) to have it cleared from my record and I didn’t know who else I needed to contact about it. I’m in the process of looking for a first home and as part of my job, a CCJ on my record is likely to result in me losing it and I am subject to regular checks. So I feel as though this is all really unfair and I’m stressed out and worried about it and just wanted to know where I stand with it all due to the stress it’s caused, like any other person would.

Concentrate on getting it fixed. Raise disputes with each of the CRAs and if they don't change it put in a formal complaint and then take it to the Information Commissioner (ICO). That should be your priority.

There is a fairly low tolerance here for people looking for compensation. Every mistake doesn't have to lead to compensation. There is also a lot of valuable advice to help you out of difficult situations if you want to take it.

That is my priority, I just know this can all take time. I am slightly confused when it comes to Experian making the error on my credit file when I've noticed it with ClearScore too (which I believe is ran by Equifax?). Do the CRAs talk to each other or would it be worth me contacting the court who issued the CCJ if the info has come from them - just to make sure?

As Nebulous2 says, concentrate on getting it fixed.

You're not going to get compensation for "what if's."
  • The CRA’s don’t talk to each other.

They report what is instructed to them by the lenders or the courts etc.

Ok thank you. So do you think my best bet would be contacting the court? Seems a bit odd how Equifax and Experian both hold the same info if they don't talk to each other. Just want to make sure I'm going the right way about getting it cleared

    Why is it odd?

If they both got their data from the same source then it's perfectly normal isn't it?

Because Experian said the information was put on by them in error and that it was their fault. But it might actually be the fault of the court (the source) who issued the same information to the CRAs? So rather than me going to the CRAs to request deletion it's probably worth me contacting the court and perhaps trying to go back and see where things could have gone wrong if it's on multiple credit reports?
  • The court advises the CRA’s what to report and for whom.

The CRA’s then report accordingly, or in this case, accidentally.

No one is in cahoots with each other.

Contact each of the CRA’s and ask them to remove it.

    Job done.
