Furious with OFGEM over Solarplicity/Toto SCAM
I am absolutely SPITTING NAILS over the SCAM move to Toto Energy.
I have been complaining to Solarplicity CEO for over a year, messages showed read but no reply, nor from Ms Patience etc. I have called the call centre every two weeks which got me absolutely nowhere.
I contacted OFGEM who told me to lay out my complaints 1 by 1 and what I thought the Solution was.
I made six complaints, I got a terse reply from some fool who clearly had not read the complaints, he responded to 4 with answers that showed he did not understand or was in denial. The other two were ignored.
I then got the SIX WEEK letter (after 2 weeks) and told to go to ombudsman but all my complaints had been merged.
One of my complaints was that they had increased my TARIFF without any notice, this was after being forced to change tariff again without notice.
NOW I KNOW WHY, they effectively moved us to TOTO tariff before they pulled this STUNT and now say our TARIFF WILL NOT CHANGE
Who are they F'ing kidding, do they think we came down with the last shower!
Meanwhile OFGEM the NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE REGULATOR just says "we are aware and we will be monitoring"

So where does this leave me with my complaints?
What about my LED light bulbs, NEVER PROVIDED since Jan 2018
What about the increased energy cost because I did not get those bulbs, (seems fair enough as Solarplicity deducted 11% from estimated costs when I originally put my figures into their website.
What about my other ongoing complaints?
6 Complaints that would have had at least £50 penalty each, that is £300
What about the hikes in energy costs, will OFGEM force Toto to actually use the energy we were signed up with?
What about the promise and basis for signing up NO STANDING CHARGES, we do not believe in them. Then they forced us off that Tarriff with no notice.
Apparently Solarplicity has been allowed to keep some smaller customers WHY so they can screw them up too?
Why did WE not get a choice over staying with Solarplicity with OFGEM forcing it to do what it promised) or have the option to jump ship, WE HAVE BEEN SOLD to Toto but only after our Tariff was HIKED, why have we not been paid that money!
This is a company that renames it's various companies from Solarplicity to something else and then has them go bust owing the State the VAT payments they TOOK FROM CUSTOMERS but never paid the State.
Now they are being allowed to do it all again.
As they have not paid their VAT, what is left of this shambles of a company with all it's related companies needs to be confiscated by the State and sold off on open market for the best market price.
ALL the Directors who participated in this sham company need to be BANNED FOR LIFE to be a Director of ANY company, even as a non exec. Nor should they be allowed a cushy consultancy at OFGEM
As for OFGEM, I would SACK THE LOT OF THEM and start over with a CONSUMER LED organisation.
So when facing being shut down and customers moved to a new supplier via OFGEM we are SOLD to an energy company with one of the worst reputations in the sector.

Do not really understand your question? But it appears to be a vent about various people? Plus if you are making complaints it is good to be concise about points and not to ramble. As they will not understand what you are trying to complain about.

Why haven't you already moved away from Solarplicity yourself?
I realised how bad they were months ago and jumped shipped at the earliest opportunity.
You mentioned you made your initial complaint more than a year ago. You've been putting yourself through this pain for a long time.
Changes to tariffs happen. Solarplicity emailed me details of changes to my tariff about six week before they were due to come in to effect. Perhaps they emailed you about changes to your tariff; perhaps they didn't. But you have known about the changes for more than a year.
I'm not a fan of Solarplicity and will probably be making a complaint about them and/or TOTO in a few weeks.
The problem with your complaint is it rambles too much.
My take is that you appear to have got a good deal a few years ago and thought it would last forever.0 -
I understood every part of your thread, what people don't understand why your still with them is they stop your switch from leaving, due to the meters not been registered on the national database.
This company is the worst company I've ever had to deal with.
What people don't understand is the get you to sign an ipad for a survey, but behind that ipad is 3 contract boxes that they copy and paste your signiture onto tieing you into a 25 year contract with them, so basically your screwed.

The reason for the original poster's long post is the number of problems with Solarplicity is unbelievable and OFGEM do not appear to be taking robust action. Here is my example:
Selected a renewal tariff and they immediately started charging a higher unit rate than the tariff said.
They did not apply discounts I was eligible for until I chased this multiple times and was part way through the Ombudsman process.
No tariff renewal email confirmation as required by OFGEM.
LED Bulbs not received until they sent me some with different fittings with a different customer's name.
I followed their internal complaint process and was just ignored. They did not send the 8 week deadlock letter that OFGEM require.
The Ombudsman was pretty scathing of them and required them to make a goodwill payment to me. Solarplicity have told the Ombudsman the actions are complete, but instead of making a goodwill payment they have credited my energy account. This is when they have outstanding winding-up petitions from HMRC against them, so they may end up never refunding the credit.
Four subsidiaries have just been placed into administration and they are sending out false press releases and social media comments effectively denying this when it has been published in the Gazette.0 -

Number of separate companies far higher than is typical for a business of this size.
Multiple company name changes.
History of insolvencies every few years, but the directors are skirting around the phoenixing rules and able to use the same trading names.
Company name and ownership changes in the final days when insolvency is inevitable.
Late filling of accounts.
Holding company has agreed charges against the assets of the subsidiaries, so they rank higher in an insolvency than normal creditors. This show how much the directors trust the financial strength of the business.
Suggestions from liquidators of previous preferential payments to directors, with out of court settlements.
Continuing companies buying the business assets from administrators.
Companies buying intangible assets from related parties that the directors then suddenly realise are worthless.0 -

Yes I complained to OFGEM, they had me put the complaints into 6 areas with proposed solutions and to then raise those 6 complaints with the ombudsman thereafter.
I sent this to Solarplicity, they did reply because it was CC'ed with the reply from OFGEM but the reply ignored the issued raised, it was as if they did not even read them
I then immediately got what is called a 6 week letter and Solarplicity re-merged the complaint.
My rate was then increased as part of the deal to SELL me to Toto Energy NOT at my PREVIOUS rate but at the rate Solarplicity HIKED it to WITHOUT NOTICE immediately prior to transferring me.
I will be complaining about OFGEM but not to OFGEM, but to Rt Hon Andrea Leadsom MP and Kwasi Kwarteng, asking them to investigate and seize the assets of Solarplicity and related or renamed companies.
There are huge issues, assets like the head office seem to be owned by the Pension of CEO and his wife, if you look at key date changes in officers including his Mrs you can that they expected it all to go bust, but they rename the company or rename other companies to similar names.
Right now the Inland revenue has issued winding up orders dor the following

I disagree, if you take the time to drill down on the persons of sig control and look at the charge agreements you can see that the LLC for the pension of CEO and his Mrs own the charges on head office.
That is just the beginning, I am looking into all of the events in public documents.
All of the Directors of the various Solarplicity companies need to be banned from being directors of ANY company and the Government needs to look how it can seize the assets.0 -
I agree there is a lot of dubious practices. The difficulty is proving this is dishonest.
Putting an office into a pension scheme is quite common. It would need to be shown that the everything was dishonestly structured with the intention of moving funds out of the energy company, into other companies and defaulting creditors.
At it stands the directors are just falsely, but plausibly, saying the energy company failed because of difficult trading conditions.
