Got a bunch of apology flowers in 2001 from Ford as I did the whole pick up at midnight thing and the lazy lads had bu*gered off home early having prepped every car but mine which still had the delivery sheeting and crap on it. I could see it in the car park but couldn't take it....it was my first car and I was gutted. Not only that but I had a late night with work the next day and no flippin' car to get there!
I think back then the new car was a bigger deal as people only bought them if they could afford new, no PCP deals, so getting it at midnight was half of the 'experience'. New ones I've got since I've still picked up day 1 of the new registrations but at a more sensible time slot! No freebies, just here's the keys now get lost. Mini wanted a pic for their fb page but I said no! Maybe if they'd thrown in an oversized umbrella like another poster got ;-)0 -
We got flown business class to Germany , put up in a hotel for 2 nights , had a tour of the factory , then had to sit through the palaver of being called to collect our car , that was quite good
Any other car , nothing ...and not bothered
So they couldn't evem be bothered to deliver it to you - did you get a discount ?0 -
Picked a new car up last month from Toyota. Bunch of red roses, small wooden box for my keys and a small soft toy called Issho ! Roses were lovely, a nice touch really. Car was in the showroom ready to drive away, no fuss, just lovely customer service. I wouldn't be bothered if there were no gifts, all I expect is a car !0

I forgot my last car pickup. The dealer sent a driver to pick me up from home because there was no trade-in.
This was a Skoda main dealer.0 -

I got an apology for it not being clean seeing as it had been delivered on a flat bed transit 100 odd mile through the rain. I wasn't bothered cos it wasn't clean when I viewed it. I noticed I got the mats for free without discussion but that was it. I was happy with that.0

First new car I bought was a proton 1/8/1998 (new G reg) . Picked it up at 9am with a handshake and a bunch of flowers in the boot for missus 'cos I'd got a new toy and she hadn't which I thought was a nice touch.
Since then the only other time I got anything was with a new XF 16/9/11. £20 of diesil in the tank and a good cleaning kit including reflective triangle and other bits such as accident reporting kit with notepad, pen, tape measure, torch and single use camera. Never used it and still got it.
Missus has never got anything when she's bought cars new or s/h.0 -
