All I want is the PDI done and the book stamped without me reminding them.

I see different things happening when people pick up a new car. Some get an unveiling and gifts, some get gifts and some get absolutely zilch.

Just wondering what peoples own experiences were and with what make?

well if they do give you a gift etc you can guarantee it will costed in to the price you pay for the car

Oh I'm well aware of that. I just wanted to know people's experiences.

We got flown business class to Germany , put up in a hotel for 2 nights , had a tour of the factory , then had to sit through the palaver of being called to collect our car , that was quite good

Any other car , nothing ...and not bothered

    What car was that for?

    I'm assuming Mercedes?

They dont seem to do it any more though.

Clearly theres a cost involved somewhere....

Surely if the dealership can splash out on booze and staff time to schmooze you after you’ve already paid for the thing, you perhaps left a bit too much on the table in the deal?

No, we bought one earlier this year and it was just 'unveiled' in the showroom nothing more.

One and only new car many a year ago, Hyundai, dropped off scrappage car and paperwork, 5 min handover to new car, complete. Satisfactory experience.

My wife got a bunch of flowers with her new Fiesta in 1998; I got a hardback road atlas with a Metro in 1993.

I got a handshake in 2011 with the new Focus; my wife got the same with her new MX-5 in 2017.

I'd be very worried if they offered me alcohol before I was about to drive!

Like others have said - I'm not interested in the show - it's obviously built into the cost and I'd rather have it as a discount :money: or a useful freebie. Maybe if it was a build-to-order Aston Martin....
I need to think of something new here...
