And I wouldn't let anyone take my picture with new car and publish it somewhere.
Are you afraid Sylvester Sneekly (The Hooded Claw) will track you down?0 -
Got given the keys and and my my way, all I needed and wanted.0

I've had lots of new cars across various brands, and never had any kind of unveiling. I've only had a gift (wine and a toy bear) from a Vauxhall dealer and only on one occasion.
More typical now is the "presentation room", where the car is standing, awaiting handover safe from the rain or anything else. I'm quite happy with that.0 -
All the faffing about is just a distraction. You want to be inspecting the car in great detail.0

I dont think thats its primary purpose, but its definitely worth taking the time to inspect the car before driving off.
Any time i've been buying a new car i make a point of watching for the car coming in, confirming spec, no damage, etc, before they even PDI it.0 -

This.
When we just picked up our Kia it was in a presentation room that was well lit. Went round it, checked all panels, checked spec against brochure (got a pleasant surprise that the new 2019 spec had a USB in the rear). Tyres, plastics etc. Ours was missing the service book, noted on PDI so on back order.
Get it all inspected/ checked before you drive away.'Just because its on the internet don't believe it 100%'. Abraham Lincoln.

The best I've got, was flowers from Toyota in 2007, when I bought used £10K car. After that, I didn't get anything, and every next car was more expensive
Mercedes gave me full tank of petrol (how generous of them)
Dunno what type of flowers Toyota give out, but I guess that tank of petrol was much more expensive...I don't want my picture published online.
It's right there, above your name, on this forum. You're quite pale.0 -
Considering cost of this Mercedes, I expected to get full tank of petrol as standard, so I don't think it was very generous.
I'm definitely not pale ;-)0 -

I'm with you on this. The MINI dealer wanted to do the whole unveiling pics and handover pics and put them on facebook. Not happening.0
