Customs charge for unexpected parcel

I’ve given in and paid it. It’s being delivered on Saturday. It’ll bug me forever if I don’t see what’s in this parcel. I didn’t want to make a 100 mile round trip on the off-chance that they will show me it without paying. They seem quite strict about it.
Actually, my partner paidMainly because he’s fed up with me wondering and worrying about it.

Unfortunately it is not likely to be something with a lot of value, £8 of that charge is RMs fee the rest VAT/ Import duty.
Curiosity would have got the better of me as well.0 -

The value is unimportant, we want to know who sent it0 -
I am almost inclined to send a donation to the op, just so i can be told what it is.There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0

Surely they can give you a rough idea what it contains, seeing as content type, their value and weight would all be on the shipping.
For the sake of that price, i'd pay it personally out of curiosity.
If i didn't pay it, it would play on my mind often £14.02 to get an answer seems worth it to me at least. All your base are belong to us.0 -

What a relief!
Cannot wait to find out what it is.0 -
Right a few things.
When you say the its not at your usual 'office'. I assume you mean a Post Office?
The 40 minutes on hold is one of the reasons RM removed local numbers for delivery offices. Staff generally don't have time to answer the phone whilst dealing with customers in person etc.
The person you spoke to could have been more help though. Every customs packet has a contents declaration.
There's no rule saying you cannot show someone a charge item. you do not hand it over though for obvious reasons.0 -
This is more exciting than the final of BGT. Looking forward to finding out what this is also. Couldn't find the subscribe button on the mobile version of the forum, so adding a subscribe reminder via reply.0
