Trying to get my head around our monthly outgoings

Good afternoon all!
I'm trying to get organised with our money. I've recently started maternity allowance due to start on the 14th of August and my husband works full time.

Though my husbands wages cover our bills, he gets paid every 4 weeks which is a right pain as it falls on a different date every month.

When I was working, my husband would pay the bills out of his pay (rent, car, insurance, c.tax, loan, Internet, sky, phones, water etc) and we'd live off my wage/ I'd pay some of the other bills to give my husband a break.

I'm just looking for some tips really on how you manage to budget on a 4 weekly wage as it seems to mess us up every single month, even more so now that I'm not working and not receiving any money for another fortnight (already gone 3 weeks without any 😔)

Realistically I'd like a bank account where we transfer funds for bills, but because of the 4 weekly I'm not sure what date to set the bills for. His pay varies from the 23rd of August 2019 to the 1st of some months. So frustrating 🙄

Please help a 35 week pregnant woman. My baby brain can't make sense 😂

I get paid 4 weekly and my wife is paid monthly. When I am paid (last pay day was 12th of July and next is 9th of August) I take my wage, put it in a savings account and transfer it to my current account on the same day my wife is paid (last working day of the month). Gives a lot more consistency and I find it much easier to manage finances as a result. On the day I transfer the money I then send my half of the bill money to our joint, bills only account.

You need to get a total expenditure per month going - all bills, fuel, food, car repairs. This is a good template to use http://www.stoozing.com/calculator/soa.php

Work out what your OHs wages equate to monthly ie pay x 13/12.

Pick a pay day in the month and stick to it - keep all 4 weekly money in a different account until that date. Also keep your funds aside until that pay date you chose - it will give you consistency. Resist the temptation to dip into money before your pay date - you will then get a monthly routine going.

It will be tough in the beginning and may require a bit of jiggling and wiggling, but if you set a routine and stick to it, it will become easier.
