  • Did you want me to throw those fluffy mules at DS's Dad, Roundtuit? Or just generally?

I've temporarily moved around a couple of light bits of furniture, swept all underneath and considered some more cleaning. I might have another cuppa and see whether the desire wears off if I'm sensible about it.

Paid stuff all done, then I had a walk and a swim... very enjoyable, should do it more often.
Back at home now, will have supper when DH gets in then he will be prepping his stuff to go away tomorrow. I think I will sit and read my book for a while again.

Fluffy mule heading your way round hope it’s useful to you.

Have a lovely evening all x
  • Round, that is tough. Where are you up to on drs appointments and was it today you were due a telephone appointment for the occupational counselling service?

    Big hugs, look after yourself.

  • Oh, fudge.

Just went into the cupboard under the sink to find the stopcocks all leaking profusely. I don't believe Himself has any responsibility for this, either, as it looks like they've been leaking slowly for months and it's just blown a washer or something.

Emergency plumber *should* be here within the next two to four hours, apparently.

  • On a positive note, I am now sure the bit behind the kick plate is entirely cobweb free.

    Idiot Cat, however, is not.

    Went to gym.
    Watered greenhouse.
    Filled bird feeders.
Put away some clothes as the bedroom was a mess my side.
    Answered a few emails.
Wrapped all ornaments in MILs flat in bubble wrap.
We had a trial at getting MIL in car to see whether we needed to arrange specialised transport for Wed when she moves - she hasn't been able to get in a car since March but happily she was successful today.
Measured book/ ornament unit we hope to put into her new room. Too big for cars! Quick text to a friend with a van, who kindly came round and took the unit to the new care home. We followed with a box of books, the ornaments and 2 large vases of silk flowers. Spent ages reorganising furniture in the room. Unwrapped ornaments so the room now looks more cheerful, more like her flat.
The new home is like fort knox: relatives are never told the front door code they always knock; we now know the lift code, floor code and exit code (all different).

On the way home we were so tired we agreed to stop by Mr T for a meal deal, with the bonus of a few yellow stickers items plus some half price stationery which is fine for Xmas charity boxes.
Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.
  • General Handyman was sent. He turned the water off at the stopcock.

Was quite surprised when I pointed out that it was still leaking - which was the point of calling them out of hours in the first place, that it was still leaking after turning it off.

Somebody should be here in the morning. Allegedly. Possibly because I persuaded him to write down on the report that it was still leaking, that might actually happen this time.

Himself took him off upstairs to listen in for the universal signal of 'come down and be male because I'm about to kill somebody' - 'Well, I could ask my husband' - as I'm apparently so much better at being the technical person/dealing with workmen than he is.

Idiot Cat has fallen off the shed roof and now has the hump with everybody. Uninjured, other than a severely dented Pride, as the intruder cat walked slowly around the garden on the top of the wall as though he was nothing.

And Idiot Cat subsequently tried to get out of the kitchen window, only to fall in the (fortunately empty) sink.

He's not having a great evening.

Himself, however, is either having a brilliant night or has been replaced by an alien. He put University Challenge on after the handyman left and, instead of bellowing 'John!' at everything (his answer for any royal, medieval, musical or literature based questions), answered enough to have probably beaten the winning side. I started giving him the Side Eye within the first three, checking behind the settee for a pod by the tenth and by the time I'd worked out the result of the pH value question, he'd picked it out of the air and got it right again. And guessed the answer to one of the wildlife questions would be slow worm before they'd even asked it - when the wildlife questions are my speciality.

After he'd inexplicably slaughtered me, he wibbled off to the kitchen and wittered about George Bernard Shaw and the highly technical term for the origins of patterns in linguistics parodied in Pygmalion.

He came back, went to give me a kiss with my cuppa and whispered sweetly in my ear 'Well, i still love you, even if you're A SAD LOSER'.

He's been swapped with a changeling. Has to be. So I threw a chip at his head.

The fairies can have this one back. In a while. Once the novelty's worn off.

    Morning all

Have been up for a while, did not sleep well and am feeling shattered. DH heading away for a couple of days, have a full day of paid stuff again and also have a painter coming in. Need to get another cup of tea and get moving I think!

Flying will be done after paid stuff, have done s/s of kitchen and put away most of laundry from yesterday’s loads. Rest of it needs ironing so will leave that for DH to do later in the week.

Have a good day all x

Morning all. JoJo, are you sure he hadn't already watched that episode?!

Plans, such as they are today- knitting, dog walks, podiatrist, exercise class, catch up on kitchen flying.

    Have a great day everyone.
