Here's to kind neighbours - its about time you were a recipient.
Here's to all the sales as well
Hope you get to a point where your ex's activities go preferably unnoticed or at least straight past you. Social media does keep stuff in front of your nose that would be better not.0 -
Very happy to hear your daughter is OK. Horrible for you having a scare like that!
I definitely agree with selling the ring but would there be something that could bring you more joy? Something that would make your life easier or your body more comfortable?

Maybe if you sell your ring you could do "some and some" keep some back for a treat to mark the line drawn under with your children, so they see it as a positive thingSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far

Yes Emma - you probably can be too nice, and perhaps do yourself no favours if being like that allows people to walk all over you! As for your children not wanting to eat the meals you prepare, it's perhaps going to make them very difficult to live with when they're adults. I suppose being a wartime baby myself where strict food rationing was the regime for many years, even after the war ended, one quickly learnt as a child that if you didn't eat what you were given you got nothing else.
I can't remember how old your children are now but perhaps good to remember that in a few year's time when they're grown up and have partners of their own, any bad behaviour and attitudes will probably be blamed on you as their parent so a good idea to introduce as many behaviour and good manner disciplines now as possible so they become hopefully automatic behaviour. It tough for you as a single parent to have to play a double role in this but you seem to be doing a good job to try and teach your children to understand the needs of others.
Sounds like your Mum continues to be as ungrateful as ever. Can't you ease her into your background a little more and concentrate on your own needs? In other words, stop being so nice to others and be a little kinder to yourself ?5 -
Emma. This sounds like the old saying of "Beware of what you wish for" but probably explains to many of us why you've tried so hard to go the extra mile with one difficult lady!
But remember, even some life sentences are allowed to have parol occasionally, so don't punish yourself ALL the time!!2 -
Emma
Your mother will be saved when the Archbishop of Canterbury is damned, you have so many saintly people praying for her! But what about you?! You count in all this. You haven't been put on earth to be bullied. Agree with the above, you need to be kind to yourself. Xx4 -
Time to put yourself first Emma, be kind to yourself. I'm like that, a people pleaser who wants to help and fix things for others, it's to do with what we went through as children, we've got trauma and PTSD to deal with.
Good idea to tell the kids that's what's for dinner and there isn't anything else.
Kids can be really unappreciative cos they have so much these days, they don't understand the sacrifices their parent(s) make for them, they'll look back and see how much you did for them. Lucky dog getting the steak
Can you sell the mirror?
Are there any charity shops who'll take the books? In my area there are bookshelves at some train stations with free books, people leave books there2 -
How lovely meeting your friend- a boost to the spirits.
