"cheap rubbish" may have a been a bit too flippant of a comment but i meant it as it being the very bottom of the range when it comes to current TV's.
The biggest problem is that it is only 1080P (Full HD). 4K has 4 times the resolution of Full HD so right away you could have got a TV with effectively a 4 times better picture for not much more money. Your also someone who keeps a TV for an extended period plus you probably use the TV everyday so getting something that is future proofed would have been a worthwhile investment.
I just think it's a shame you ignored the advice on here and ended up getting poor value for money.
I do hear what you are saying and I was about to order the Sony Bravia 4K TV, but then read about the potential broadband problem, which we do get quite often with our firestick.
As our existing TV is only HD ready, upgrading to 1080 HD will be a big jump for us:)
A couple of years down the line if we are not too happy with it we can always upgrade to a 4K then - which will probably be a 5K at that time;)
BTW I don't even have a smartphone, just a very basic £10 PAYG - so that tells you I am definitely not a high tech person:)
If it works and does what I want and need, that is all that matters.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -

The TV was sourced from JL, so the OP could just return it in exchange for a 4K if he wanted to. However, she seems happy with her choice and that's all that matters really.
Have slightly amended your post to reflect my gender:DStopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -

You shouldn't believe everything you read online, newspapers often put exaggerated headlines to grab peoples attention and draw in suckers like you.
This has been well covered on here before; every time you use the wake word Alexa will record what you said and send it the Amazon server to process so it can respond to your command. This isn't a secret and this is well publicised how this works (that's why it needs an internet connection to work).
If the system can't understand what the command was then they they will manually review the recording to help improve the service. You can go onto your account and see every recording that is stored so nothing is hidden.
People who know far more about technology than you have confirmed that Alexa devices do not send any recordings unless the wake word has been used.0 -
