Yes. It replaces firestick etc.
Android is just another form of Smart Tv that Sony uses & works well

Get a smart TV, has extra features you will want at some time.
Like Chromecast, where you can stream content from your Android phone or tablet, directly to the TVChanging the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0 -

My concern with smart TVs is that the manufacturer has no incentive to issue firmware updates for older models. So as protocols evolve, apps such as iplayer could stop working and there's not a lot you can do about it. If the smarts are external (eg firestick) it's a lot cheaper (and less wasteful) to replace that to restore the functionality, rather than having to replace the whole TV.0

All TV’s can receive Freeview but as you have Broadband you may find it advantageous to buy a TV with ‘Freeview Play’ facility;... Freeview Play is completely free and combines catch-up, on-demand services and live television together in one place. Freeview Play doesn’t cover every channel though.0

That is really worth considering - do you think it is likely to happen?
My OH seems to think that we will get a better wifi connection with a smart TV, but I would have thought that it wouldn't be any different to the firestick, which is sometimes a bit slow and hangs a bit. Surely that is all down to our wifi router and where it is located isn't it?Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0
