You said you have some money for thr 2008 party from the JKR signed copy... may I suggest this is the best time to start with buying the paper goods for next year? The cards, gift wrap, decs etc.. as it will save you an awful lot of monye next November/December time!

Oh and well done too :D

    Well done Rheme.
Nevermind the dog, beware of the kids!
  • I used to work as a managers secretary with Sainsburys and on a weekly basis we gave vouchers ranging from £10 to £50 to local charities or people raising funds for various causes. All it took was a nice polite letter to the store manager telling them of your upcoming fundraising event and what the money would be used for.
Another way of raising really good money is bag packing, we used to have a local scout leader who relied on this as his main fundraising event - he would sometimes raise up to £400 on a busy Saturday!
Also if you are holding parties etc they would sometimes donate stock that was never going to sell in time and that we had received in store by mistake- I remember one occasion a manager giving 50 boxes of biscuits and 50 bottles of squash for a mothers and toddlers event.
Good luck and please keep up the good work:-)
  • I would like to add to the huge congratulations to Rheme and her team, to the good willed folk wishing well, and also to the other folk out there doing their bit, all of those lovely comments have made a tear well! Well done everyone, that's the spirit... ;,)
Please be nice, this is all so new to me!

Can I just say a very big thank you for the Post of the Month nominations along with all the best wishes. I have certainly passed these on to all those involved in making this party happen.

Also thank you for your renewed money saving tips in advance of the 2008 Christmas party. We shall certainly be using them.

The £50.00 award for post of the month is being paid straight into the party fundraising account as without the party I would never have won it.

Hope you all had a marvellous Christmas (I certainly did) and lets all have a fantastic 2008.

Once again --- A GREAT BIG THANK YOU.

Just read this entire thread and am in tears, from your description I can almost see the children at the party, in particular the little girl running to santa. Well done to you and your team for all your hard work and dedication, may I wish you and your families all the very best for the coming year
 you are as you are, if you aren't as you ought to be.

    .

Missed this until now, but you would have had my vote too! Well done you :T:beer::T:beer::T

Don't forget to keep a close eye on the freebies threads, you never know what might pop up.

Also, a couple of months ago, there was a free book from learn direct. When I took the voucher in at the start of December, , I was told that the promotion was over but they still had some left. It may be worth asking to see if they would donate any leftovers to your cause. The book was a little bit different - instead of reading pages one after the other, at the end of each page, you had to answer a question which gave the number of the page where the story continued.

I'd also recommend writting to the supermarkets now. In my experience, they have a set budget each year and when it's all been allocated, that's it. They also may have xmasy end of lines now.
