its a teir 2 bank0

you are correct - they agreed to fund it and then withdrew it when i started work.
So if it's a condition of the job, what were you going to do if you couldn't find alternative employment? Pay it yourself?
If I'd been in your position the first thing I would have done on day 1 was to sort out getting the qualification. If they then weren't going to fund it I'd have left straight away. If what you are saying about them reneging on an agreement to pay the study fees is true, they clearly aren't to be trusted.0 -
I would have had no choice but to pay for it myself.
it was in my COE that for the position to become permanent I would need to have taken the exams, and they confirmed they would pay, then on day 7ish they told me that they were not putting me forward for exams.... instead here are links to articles to read....0 -
What have they put in writing in your letter of dismissal?
Being sacked for "lying" for not updating your Linked In profile is utterly ridiculous.
But they can terminate you for whatever reason they like as you are still under probation and as stated you are better off out of that company.
Your problem is if you try to get a reference from them, personally I wouldn't mention that job at all in your CV or in any interview so that nobody will approach them for a reference.Make £2018 in 2018 Challenge - Total to date £2,1080 -

I have deleted all traces from my cv
they have said that I am dishonest0 -
Deleting a job from your CV is indeed dishonest, and in banking jobs that’s fatal.
I had a gap between jobs some years ago and my next bank questioned it, as they were concerned about whether I might have left a job off.
I had to send receipts for flights, holiday pictures, restaurant receipts etc to prove that Ivreslly had spent the time traveling.0 -

Seriously?
I would not even expect that from MI6.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -

Not uncommon at all in a regulated occupation. In finance there are a whole load of regulations employers are legally obliged to follow.
Even if not a legal / regulatory requirement, apart from a few questions prohibited by law, an employer can ask what they like and require whatever proof they consider necessary before deciding who to employ.
Plus, re your last line, you have clearly never provided a reference for somebody applying to work for the security services. You have no idea.....0 -

Employers can ask the in depth questions and if the candidate wants the job then they need to provide evidence to the questions asked.
Some possibly do it as they want the employees to be honest, explain any gaps in the history or others do it because they have to eg MI6, they don't want to carry out the checks and find out later on the employee has spent time in Syria or Russia.0 -
seems that I cant win0
