Great to hear you sounding so positive and it's fantastic news about the job interview!

  • Good morning! I'm very glad that it's Friday today :) Happy valentines day to me and my diary :love:. We've had our ups and downs but I must say that we've stuck through it and are very happy together.

I survived yesterday's work training even though it felt like the longest day ever and I was stuck in the car with my boss for a total of almost 4 hours :open_mouth: It was an eye-opening experience to say that least and made me realise yet again how unappreciated I am at my job and how my boss has no regard for doing what's right and will never change. But oh well! I had a chance to speak to some other people who do the same job as me and discovered that they too had noticed the Annoying Coworkers' antics, so I'm glad to know it's not all in my head :) Overall it was a good day and gave me lots of good information around what I should be aiming for stay on a relevant career path and not end up in a position that might be redundant in a few years.

    Positive things:
    • Met lots of new people at the work training day
    • Didn't spend any money yesterday
    • Got 8 hours of sleep last night so am feeling good today
    • It's FRIDAY! :)

I hope you and your diary are happy together for many more years Velvet. 🤣

It's good that you got some positives out of your work training day but not so good being stuck in the car with your boss for that long. 😱 I'd hate that, I had to sit with 3 of my managers at a 60th birthday party last year and it was the most awkward time ever. 😱 2 of them were fine but the 3rd was the "big boss" and she's really socially awkward and a bit dull to say the least, so difficult to make conversation with. 👀
Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780. Debt Free Diary to try & keep spending in check.
  • Well that's Friday done and dusted. It wasn't a great day, I came very close to losing my patience at work this morning :astonished:
Luckily I was allowed to go home early to make up for the extra time spent at training yesterday. I used my time wisely and went grocery shopping and then came home and had a nap  I spent $45.52 on groceries which combined with the Hellofresh that's coming on Monday should last me a good week or so. Spent $69.92 for my best friend's birthday present (a duvet cover with cats on it ). All spending was in budget so all good there.

Spending a quiet night at home as I will be with my friend for most of the day tomorrow and then going out for dinner with her and her boyfriend. Should probably attempt to get some cleaning and tidying done as I won't have much time over the weekend.

Gosh, what a lot of time to have to travel with your boss! The day sounds useful, though, especially as it's confirmed your judgement both of your co-worked and of your own abilities.

I love that you and your dairy are celebrating a happy Valentine's!

  • I had a very nice Saturday with my friend M, had pizza for lunch at home and then we went to a few shops. All I bought was a birthday card for $5 , so it was a cheap and fun day. Then I went to dinner with her and her bf, but it was cut short as he received a phone call that his parent's house had burned down so we had to leave :( they paid for dinner which was very nice of them. Feeling very awful though as I think all the pets were inside the house and apparently there is nothing left  All humans are okay though.

Am at home now feeling thankful for the safety of me, my cat and my little home.

How terrible for them all. It really makes you appreciate the ordinary things that are so important.

  • Happy Sunday  it's extremely sunny/hot/humid here today. Yuck :unamused:

Random thoughts on always wanting to spend money:

Have been feeling very spend-y in the last 18 hours. Spent some time last night on eB@y just looking at random stuff that I want to buy. Almost bought a charm for my bracelet but my best offer was rejected so then I got mad and gave up on it

My friend has one of mini photo printers and she has been using it to print pictures for a diary/scrapbook. It's really cool, you can just print pictures straight from your phone and they have a sticky backing so you can then stick them straight in your diary. Anyway, I am jealous and I want one too. I don't really have any paper photos and this is something I should definitely do because I am terrible at backing up pictures and tend to lose them all every time I need a new phone or laptop. They cost about $150 or a bit less and I am really debating getting one. I don't want it to end up being one of those things that I never actually use  I have enough grocery store points to cover a month's grocery shopping so I could steal some money from the grocery fund to buy one, but I just don't want it to be a waste. I suppose I will think about it more before I go ahead and buy one.

Anyway, I must stay at home today and do some housework and not go to the shops and spend money today

I have an app where I can send off for a certain number of free prints every month. I keep not getting round to it, which is probably why it can afford to keep going, but would using something like this show you how much or little you would use the printer?

  • A productive Sunday was had :) I spent the day cleaning the house and reading through peoples' diaries. I have washed the sheets and towels, scrubbed the bathroom, washed all clothes and have hung them in the garage to dry. It was a sunny day so I hung everything else outside.

I have vacuumed, mopped and scraped cat hair off all surfaces. Made a thai green curry for dinner and will freeze the rest for lunches/dinners when needed

    A small moneysaving win:

Figured out that I can pay the council rates bill ($988!! per half-year) on my credit card which not only gets me the rewards points but also allows that money to stay in the offset account a bit longer as I will then pay it off the CC a month later. Feeling very pleased with myself for realising this fact.

    Thankful for:
    • Washing machines
    • Good weather for drying washing
    • Air conditioning (did I mention it’s hot as hell!?)
    • My past-self for going grocery shopping
    • Being organised with meal planning and having plenty of easy dinners/lunches
    • Resisting the shops and saving money!
    • Didn’t take a nap so did not ruin my sleep pattern
