D - chilli (using the batch cooked base I made last week - just need to add chilli & kidney beans to it) with rice; cottage cheese (instead of sour cream - thanks Maman for the tip!; Syn Free pea guacamole (from Slimming Eats website) - this makes a good alternative but obviously isn't the real thing!
I started looking at the Batch Lady site, just two clips so far. As she lives on a farm she's obviously got way more space than most of us for her freezers. They're like something from a professional kitchen. But the 'flat' freezing is a good idea although I'm happy with my flat boxes at the moment. I definitely agree with having a list of what's in the freezer too.
I realised (from checking one of her recipes) that some of what she's doing isn't batch cooking as such but batch prepping. That's a good idea if you're really busy but I like the idea that I can take something from the freezer at the last minute and ping it. I wouldn't want to do that with an uncooked chicken breast and raw things don't defrost well in the microwave IMO. Anyone else watched any of it?:)
Today's EE plan:
B: NAS grapefruit, HEB toast, 2 fried eggs, HEA milk for drinks
L: LO veg and picklesbaked salmon, SW chips, stir fried veg (cabbage, spring onions, mushrooms, peppers, mange tout, asparagus)
Syns: HP sauce 10 -
I haven't watched any of her videos yet but just had a mooch around the website. I've looked at the batch cooking she does and agree a lot of it is batch prepping but don't think I'd like things like burgers being cooked and then reheated anyway! I only batched less than half her quantities and got 3 x 4 portions from it. So quite happy with that.

Got the DM yesterday Pib's but havent looked at the pullout yet.
Will try to remember to report back!
Usually they are just a rehash though.
Thanks beanie. Talked to my lovely neighbour who still buys a DM most days, she is in her 80s, and got the one from Sat too from the TV guide, as well as Sundays’s pullout. I do recognise a lot of the recipes, but still nice to collect and read.
Poundsinbucks x🥳🥳 SW -6st 3.5lbs 🥳🥳0 -
Thanks for the info on retaining membership MAMAN, I reckon I've got 3 weeks left but I am going this week. If I don't, I think I may stray off the straight and narrow.
PON honey chilli chicken tonight for tea. I've put halved carrots in the roasting tray with it for a bit of extra speed and I'm serving it up with basmati rice and salad. Rather hoping there will be a bit left for lunch because it smells really good. It's only 1 and 1/2 syns too.
I've been going through some of the old mags and cutting out recipies to try. If I like them, I'm sticking them into a notebook.
So far I've got chicken tikka masala, bacon and butternut risotto, aubergine Parmesan and pork stroganoff. I soon get fed up of the same thing over and over so thought I'd try and shake things up a bit.0 -
Midge if you want to mix it up a bit how about trying some of the Jack Monroe recipes. They're easily adapted to SW but mostly vegetarian and her later ones are more vegan but if you don't mind veggie food then she's got some good recipes. I'm planning on doing her aubergine & chickpea curry this week which is really tasty! The other recipe I like is her bean goulash but I just use a tin of mixed beans to make it. Her website is cookingonabootstrap.
I really need to do the same as you as I've got a folder full of recipes which I really need to sort out plus a couple of big piles of SW magazines and books! Really ought to sort them all out as there probably aren't that many recipes that I'm like to use too often!

I've got a box with recipes from magazines or printed off the Internet. I try them and then if they're keepers I transfer them to a folder.:)
Would you post the stroganoff recipe please midge ? I had mushroom stroganoff a few times on holiday. It's yummy.0 -

I envy people who can lose big like that! especially when not sticking to plan. It seems so unfair to those of us who can't lose more than lb!
