Thanks everyone. I have just spoken to DH and he sounds a bit more with it. He finally got a bit of sleep last night after the nurses set up a fan between him and the lad in the next bed. They are in a 4-bed bay on the ground floor (with 3 floors above them), with windows that open out onto a small internal courtyard, so with not much air movement it's a heat trap. Hopefully DH will move up to the specialist respiratory ward on the 3rd floor today.

    This morning I have already
    - had breakfast without Rosie eating my toast (she grabbed both slices yesterday :rotfl:)
    - mended a small standing picture frame that suddenly fell apart a few days ago when nobody was within reach of it
    - stripped both beds and collected towels
    - hung out the first of WMx-at-least-4
    - picked a handful of sugar snap peas out of the garden; there are strawberries to pick later too, which I will share with DH this afternoon.

Other jobs to do today include
    - financial check (hospital parking :eek::eek:)
    - book Rosie's vaccination
    - clean the bathroom thoroughly
    - put some boxes away in the loft
    - dust upstairs, at the same time hunt for my college library swipe card which is on a bright blue lanyard and ought to be easy to spot, but is proving elusive :o
    - hoover upstairs and downstairs
    - do a chunk of translation
    - visit DH
    - Rosie's walk
    - make yogurt

GWS to all poorlies and (((hugs))) to all in need xx

    Hi all

Dailies done, washing out on line, all bins emptied for collection tomorrow. Kitchen bins washed and out in the sun to dry. Also emptied, washed and refreshed litter trays.
Having an early lunch now... starving again. Before I go back to work I will s/s the en suite and do a few admin bits that are lurking!

Have a nice afternoon all, try not to tire yourselves out!

Good call on the library card, Ionafan. I now set a time limit, a matter of minutes, for looking for things unless they're critically important. Most things turn up eventually but looking for things is the biggest time-waster imaginable. (I've never found the red squeaky bone, but the way, so I probably dropped it off at the Morrison's Dog's Trust or Gables - local animal rescue collection point. Soz about that, but if Rosie had two slices of toast yesterday I don't think she'll be missing the squeaky bone too much. (You spoil that dog!)

I hope you enjoy your enforced rest, Kazwookie. Wimbledon, etc. Perfect timing if you're into the tennis. If you like Radio plays and have access to BBC Sounds, I thoroughly recommend these four plays by Katherine Jakeways which must be listened to in the right order. She's hoping to be commissioned for another one, so fingers crossed. They were laugh out loud for me this week, far better than anything on TV imho. And *healing vibes* obviously.

It seems a lot of people struggled yesterday. Please don't exhaust yourselves - no-one has ever died of a bit of dust and clutter, but they have died of heatstroke and/or exhaustion. With longer, lighter, hotter days it's tempting to try to cram everything you think you should be able to do into daylight hours, but no-one's got that much time and energy. We're all doing the best we can at the moment.
I really need to book another appointment with my doc but keep putting it off.

Please do that, as a favour to yourself. It really won't get any better on its own.

Dog walked first thing, washed and demoulded shower curtains rehung for shower and hairwash this morning, volunteering done, food organised for OH to cook tonight, dog chicken chopped up and frozen for the next 10 days because I won't have time after today and all systems ready for two Temazepam and a very heavy duty dental appointment this afternoon. I am not looking forward to it. Several jabs, and very possibly posh pliers, might be involved. Yikes.
    Better is good enough.
  • Wise wise words HB. I am guilty of trying to do too much at the moment. Today I have:
    - done a full day of paid stuff
    - DW unloaded
    - walked the dog
    - hoovered the living room
    - paid some invoices and also issued some invoices for DH business

I will collect the children from after school club shortly, cook dinner and sort some laundry, the only main question then is do I have a glass of wine?

    Go for the wine ASB!

Paid stuff done, chicken in to marinade for supper,
    Office tidied a bit
    S/s of en suite done
    Admin bits done

Need to move some furniture this evening as I have someone coming tomorrow to price up fixing a window that we can’t open, at the moment they won’t be able to get by the window to do it! Will wait for DH to come home and help as not sure I can do it on my own.

Will also make shopping list and menu plan for next week this evening.

Now I am going to sit in the garden for half an hour, then I can start on supper.

Have a lovely evening all x

  • Morning ladies,

Showered, war paint on and ready for the day. It's Friday which means a 2pm finish, hurrah! Beds made, upstairs hoovered, DW unloaded and rubbish/recycling out. Kitchen bin washed outside and in the sun drying.

I did 2x WM last night so they are on the line.

    Have lovely days all xx

I have an exceptionally good dentist. All my life I've dreaded having a tooth out and I have to say it was nothing like I imagined it would be. I've got to go through the same again next week and can honestly say it's not the worst thing that's ever happened to me in the dental department. I am in awe of that man. He's brilliant.

Flying-wise I'll be taking it fairly slowly today because I've got three things to do that all require my brain and wits to be about me and I'm still aware of the after effects of the Temazepam from yesterday. One of them involves listening to a Nobel Prize winning economist with a sense of humour for an hour. A great man and an entertaining speaker. Can't wait.
