All this talk of exercise is wearing me out!!!

This thread is about fitness... financial fitness. But this goes hand in hand with physical (and mental) fitness too.

No good having one without the other!!

I agree that I need to work on my core more. I do have a stretching (+ strength) routine, but don't do it as often as I should.

    Planks...here I come!!!

Did another 6 mile walk this morning round local woods.

We probably won't end up going away now, as the weather looks too hit and miss, plus the prices go silly at half term.

We'll just be spontaneous and if the sun's out, we'll pop somewhere.
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)

My Mum (71) has been doing aquarobics for quite a few years but has recently started doing Tai Chi.

I’m a black belt in Origami, does that count? :rotfl:

I used to belong to an Origami club but it folded.

At the risk of turning this into a running thread, I did my first Parkrun yesterday, and just missed out on a sub 28 minute time. I'm about 3 mins slower than my PB, but I did set that about 15 years ago.

I got a Age graded WAVA score of 57.55%

I have a target now, and a sub 28 is my first goal!!!!

It's dark, grey, wet and miserable outside today, so I'm declaring it a day of hibernation, under a fleece blanket, with a book and possibly wine!

In financial news, I recently contacted Aviva to continue making payments into my ex-works pension. We agreed payments to start on 1st November. Letter came saying we'll start collecting from 28th October!! I can't be bothered to argue with them, I'll just have to make sure the money's there early for the DD. Luckily it doesn't muck up my calculation as to putting in the max gross (£3600) this year.

Before you ask, it's £3600 because I only actually earned £3525 gross in the tax year to date before I left (part-time wages).

Just checking, but presumably you are actually putting in £2,880 pa as the additional £720 will be coming from tax relief?

    Quite!!

We can only hope for bright, clear, cold and frosty days though. Much more inspiring to get out in the fresh air when it's sunny, even if you need to wrap up like the Michelin Man!!

Anyway, I've been sloth like today...mainly reading and watching rugby and GP highlights!!

    Hung up my suit!
I registered to Parkrun about 18 months ago but still have not made it to the start line! I am keen to put a marker down but will now wait until I turn 55 (in 2 weeks).

I am very competitive so the thought of making myself sick trying to run a fast time makes me feel...errrr....sick.

In my thirties, I ran 36:30 for 10k (I never raced over 5k). My park run goal would be to break 22:30. Lets see.
Money won't buy you happiness....but I have never been in a situation where more money made things worse!
