mine are way more than that - the downside of being blind as a bat is the choice of either glass like a coke bottle bottom or high refractive index thin stuff from Nikon.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Pensions, Annuities & Retirement Planning, Loans

Just checked back on my spreadsheets...wow how time flies.
My glasses are 5 years old!!!! No wonder my "reactions" are going patchy!! £299
I did have my eyes checked in late 2019 and my prescription hadn't changed enough to warrant a new pair at the time, and then with "you know what", we're a bit behind in getting re-tested.
We're going to book appointments on-line later this week.

I went to Vision Express in the end and got a Ray Ban frame and with 25% off (they offered) I paid £496.If you want to be rich, live like you're poor; if you want to be poor, live like you're rich.1

You just need the PD size plus prescription: I got that last with Vision Express, who had taken over the surprisingly efficient and thorough Tesco optician I’d used for years. Not that they are much cheaper, but the choice in local opticians simply wasn’t great….
But yes, once you want decent varifocals, be ready for £££s to disappear 🤓Plan for tomorrow, enjoy today!2 -
My glasses were near £400 - almost all on the lenses. The extra light ones are really expensive, but the prdinary light ones make my nose ache.

I support those who are prepared to spend whatever it takes to have comfortable, effective glasses.
I've worn glasses for more than 50 years now and they are the item I wear longest each and every day so thin lenses varifocals are expensive but worth it.5 -
