Benchmark are part of Travis Perkins (owners of Wickes) if that makes a difference to you.
When we did our kitchen we got howdens at "80%" discount, i say discount as that probably was what it was worth at list price anyway.0 -
I’m going into Howdens today and will want to see their price list and see their discounts, I’m also wanting more off so will update later on.
If not I’ll call Benchmarx and await my plan which I’ve sent off to DIY Kitchens and see what they can do.0 -
Benchmarx is again trade only, but not a problem as you have a fitter. We got our kitchen from Howdens and are very happy with it. I dealt with the designer direct and we worked through umpteen variants before coming up with the final choice. Brother-in-law is a builder with a trade account.
Kitchen was installed while we were on holiday, but there was a muck-up and the wrong doors were delivered. Corrected and the new doors delivered in 24 hours - I doubt Wren would have done that. Howden's list prices are a joke as they give massive trade discounts of up to 80%. Our kitchen was solid carcass, not flat pack, and it really is solid. Not cheap, but as our previous kitchen was in for 30 years I think this will see us out.0 -
So I went back into Howdens today and a quick re-gig with the plans and a good look at the units, doors etc etc all sorted now, still need to work out which colour I go for but the plan is exactly how I'd like it now.
So basically said I've done the DIY Kitchen plans and it comes in around £4K but if he comes down to £4.5K then I'll go with Howdens and get rid of Wren, DIY and Benchmarx as well and sign on the dotted line, its the price I'm comfortable so they are hopefully going to get back to me soon and see what they can do.
TBF I did like Howdens plans from the start and he had some great styling ideas...
Update...
So Howdens have come back with the price of £4500, I realise there is probably a bit more some people would of wanted off but that is the price I'm comfortable with paying tbh...
They also threw in a few upgrades on larder units and wall cupboards which Wrens wanted a whole lot more for.
Looking forward to the next phone call from Wren now...0 -
Well done. Keep us updated. I'm looking at doing two small kitchens for a rental next month. My options area IKEA, howdens and DIY kitchen as I only live 30 minutes from them.
I know IKEA has the issue of odd size and not
service space, and doesn't feel sturdy enough for a rental. But I'll see how you get along on getting it reduced. I think time of month makes a difference. I'm in retail and this month has been terrible, esp this week. If they have targets to meet, stock to clear they will reduce.0 -
We thought you might like to know that Howden's quoted us nearly £12k for a kitchen. We went to DIY to get a like-for-like quote and due to DIY Kitchens now getting panned online for poor customer service, deliveries etc, we went back to Howdens and they agreed to price match DIY...£4.5k including a quartz marble worktop!0

Just as an example -
£400 rrp unit.
70% discount = £120
80% discount = £80
I.e. a 10% additional discount results in a 50% price reduction.
You should be aiming for 70 - 80% discount.
IMHO the equation is different with - 10% extra discount. That's not 70% + 10% = 80% off, but to revert to the example:
£400 less70% off = £120 additional 10% off of £12 = £108 or 73% off.

That's not how Howdens work and that's not what fezter meant. They were illustrating that people might think the way you have, but each percentage point makes a huge difference.
Howdens offer a set % off their apparent RRP that varies on the customer, the weather and what they had for breakfast that day.
80% off is 80% off.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

HI,
I am in discussion with Howden's to provide some units for utility room in their Greenwich Gloss range comprising of:
1 x 4 drawer
2 x half height wall units
1 x 2 drawer pan
1 x 2 door upright
2 x base unit
1 x tall upright cupboard (larder height but not pull out)
2 x 3m worktop
2 x 3m matching upstand
They have quoted 2600 and say in Oct sale will reduce to 2300. I have looked at DIY Kitchens as a rough comparison and they too quote 2600. So despite all I have read about discounts is this a good deal from Howdens at a 12% discount to 2300???
Many thanks0 -

No harm in asking for more off but of its close or matching DIY then me personally I'd be almost happy enough, but would still ask for the discount...0
