    Why is it knackered?

Most cars can be repaired easily enough. Just avoid main dealers (horrendous hourly rates) and 'high street' (Kwik Fit, Halfords etc) garages.

The back window mechanism has gone and is currently taped up to stop it falling inside the door, there’s a hole in my exhaust, needs 3 new tyres, brake pads, drinks oil and now the catalic converter is going, suspension is gone as well. I use a local garage that I have been to for years and trust them.

Of course you need a credit check because they need to check your income will service the debt. If your struggling now how are you going to pay the loan back.

I don’t want a loan, as I know I won’t be accepted! I want to know if I can lease a car with bad credit rating!

Im not sure a car on finance is what you need, you've found out its crazy apr, need a big deposit or you get credit checked.

    Get the current car fixed.

The real question you should be asking is why is your credit history poor? That’s what you need to focus on to fix things in the future if you want to be able to use credit.

Otherwise you are pretty much in the same situation as this person who posted yesterday i.e. waiting until the nasties have fallen off their files and the advice given goes for you

I had a credit card that I was paying off fine, then I found myself in a physically abusive relationship and fled with my 10 week old baby. I lost my home, my job, my car, everything! I ended up a single mum on benefits and couldn’t keep up with the payments. I’ve started from scratch and am doing everything in my power to make things better, I’m paying it back every month. The troubles with my car have come at the wrong time! Like I say if I can’t drive to work, I can’t work and earn money, if I can’t earn money I’ll end up back on benefits starting from scratch again. So any advice on what to do at this moment in time would be greatly appreciated, I know what I have to do in the future!

Could you cycle, run, or get an electric bike or a cheap moped?

Unfortunately I travel from Kent to Essex everyday, so running or cycling would not be an option. Also I have a child so a moped wouldn’t be practical either. Thank you for your ideas and response though 👍🏼

You probably can as there will always be subprime lenders - however you would be paying silly money in order to do so. Have a read of the link I posted earlier, those are the types of rates you are likely to get with a default on your files.

Why have you let your car fall into such a state of disrepair? If you had paid to fix these things as and when they happened, it wouldn’t be such a big bill now. It doesn’t sound roadworthy at all at the moment and the fact you are driving your child around in it still is mind boggling.

Exactly! It all happened at once which is why I’m asking for advice and help not a beating or telling off!! Don’t bother replying if you have nothing helpful to say!!!! You don’t know me or my situation so don’t judge me 😡

It’s going to cost me over a grand to get it through the MOT which I don’t have and the car is only worth £100. I feel like I could be putting that money towards something that will run more efficiently.

So how much money do you have saved for the MOT, service and maintenance? As beany_bot says, you can buy a cheap run-around for very little. You could use the money you saved for the MOT, service and maintenance to buy something cheap... :)

Oh...and are you receiving child maintenance from your ex?

By the way, I don't Candyapple passed judgement on you. I think they were just expressing an opinion. An opinion that you don't like.
