Hi
So I’m a single mum working 3 jobs to try and survive and my car is a Vauxhall Meriva 56 plate, it’s knackered and I’m going to end up spending more money on it than it’s worth. I want to get a new car but I have “very poor” credit rating 😩 I was thinking about leasing a car for a bit while I sort myself out but would I be accepted? Everywhere I look online you either need to have a credit check, pay a huge deposit (which I don’t have!) or pay silly amounts of apr. I seriously don’t know what to do. If I don’t have a car then I can’t get to work and if I can’t get to work then I can’t earn money etc etc...any advice on where to go or what to do would be greatly appreciated! Thank you

Unfortunately, you don't have a right to credit. If you have a very poor credit history you're not going to find anyone willing to lend you money that isn't going to be at astronomical rates.
You're probably going to need to repaid your current one."Facism arrives as your friend. It will restore your honour, make you feel proud, protect your house, give you a job, clean up the neighbourhood, remind you of how great you once were, clear out the venal and the corrupt, remove anything you feel is unlike you... [it] doesn't walk in saying, "our programme means militias, mass imprisonments, transportations, war and persecution."0 -
Fix the current car. It doesn't matter if it costs more than it's worth. It'll provide you with transport.
Separately, work on fixing the negatives in you credit history (not the score or rating).0 -
Why is it knackered?
Most cars can be repaired easily enough. Just avoid main dealers (horrendous hourly rates) and 'high street' (Kwik Fit, Halfords etc) garages.0 -
Of course you need a credit check because they need to check your income will service the debt. If your struggling now how are you going to pay the loan back.Mortgage free wannabe

Im not sure a car on finance is what you need, you've found out its crazy apr, need a big deposit or you get credit checked.

Could you cycle, run, or get an electric bike or a cheap moped?0

Just to clarify, I don’t want to borrow money, I want to lease a car but not sure if I would be accepted because of my bad credit rating. I have one credit card that defaulted 4 years ago and I am making payments every month to pay it back, so I am trying, it’s just taking longer than expected.0

It’s going to cost me over a grand to get it through the MOT which I don’t have and the car is only worth £100. I feel like I could be putting that money towards something that will run more efficiently.
I am working on building my credit but it takes time which is something I don’t have as the car is due for MOT next month!0
