I don't know. I have looked at my dashcam footage, all the car adjacent me looks alright. No apparent damage.

What kind of dashcam do you have that shows the sides of the bodywork?
Often they show a limited field ahead of the lens around 160 degrees.

It is a wide angle front HD dashcam, and a rear camera too. It certainly doesn't show my car surrounding 360 degree. But it does record it well how I enter the car park and how I maneuver to enter to the parking space. And when i parked my car into the space, the adjacent cars bodywork is clearly visible (because it is not too close). With such distance from the footage makes me conclude is the probability for me to touch any car is close to zero, and concluded it is a fraud insurance claim.

lumixldn - I'm going to try to help here - is this summary that DUTR typed accurate?:
Your car wasn't there when he parked up but was once the owner had returned, for whatever reason he observed some fresh damage that wasn't there when he parked up, the time difference between your arrival to his departure, leads him to believe it was your vehicle and no other that caused the damage, he has left you a note before action. Perhaps if you hadn't responded to the note then he may have considered it may have been another car in that spot .

If so, this is what you need to argue against. What is the timeline of your parking? How long were you there for? How long were you NOT there for - could another car have parked there? Do you have any damage around your car that could be from hitting his car?
Whilst it is difficult for you to accept that you may have indeed caused some damage, you are still in denial about it and as such the other person is trying to scam you and/or your insurance company.

We're still all open to the possibility that lumixldn DIDN'T cause damage, aren't we?!!

    Thanks for the reply.

It took me around 15 mins to park from entrying the car park - it was a busy day in the car park, and I have to drive very slowly to follow other car and allocate a parking space and manure. When I parked there, my parking space is empty. My dashcam has the footage recording all above. I was then away and returned to my car after 4 hours. All my the adjacent cars have left.I have not noticed any damage that around my car. As I mentioned before, my car is 10 years old so there is some old minor scratches, but they are definitely not fresh damages.

Yes, but there are two sides to a story and we only have one account.

We are open minded, and if we ask questions then they won't be as difficult or as intrusive as what the OP may yet face.

Great, so the complainant's car was there when you got there, but not when you left 4 hours later. You've got dashcam footage of you arriving and parking safely in the space (as far as a dashcam can show), and 4 hours later, the complainant has gone, and left a note on your car. I'd like to know what evidence this guy has. OP believes they didn't touch anybody, so it would be wrong to just roll over - the insurance company needs to investigate it, not just pay out.

Indeed, but we're not in court yet so maybe just take it a bit easier.

Nobody said it may reach court (so maybe take it a little easier ;))

You were the one mentioning open minded, where did you get the 4hrs from?
As mentioned earlier there is something that the other party has lead them to believe that the OP has damaged their car in that car park (as opposed to the OP just being picked at random as an easy target)

    As I'm reading things:

3rd party car was there first, with no other car adjacent.

OP's car was there adjacent when 3rd party returned to leave - 3rd party notices damage to their car.

3rd party assumes OP's car caused the damage, without considering that it might have been another car (been and gone) before the OP arrived.

(This presumes that the 3rd party doesn't also have dashcam footage showing their car rocking whilst the OP's car was parking adjacent).
