Economy energy final bill

I am being pestered by ACIC, the debt collection agency acting forEconomy Energy’s liquidations- they claim I owe Economy Energy money, yet when I left, in October last year (2018) I was almost £200 IN CREDIT[! an amount EE agreed THEY owed ME. My final bills showed exactly how much I was owed, but EE kept fobbing me off with excuses as to why they couldn’t refund me. After OVO took over they refunded me, and I thought the whole sorry business was finished.
Now mysteriously, a DEBIT balance has appeared on line for my account ! I have provided proof throughcopies of emails fromEE & OVO & a copy of my bank statement showigthat OVO refunded me, but ACIC seem to think this may not be the end of the matter as everything depends on whether the liquidators believe my proof or EE’s false records!
Has anyone else been contacted by this company? If so did the liquidators believe you or did they prefer to believe a company that has been shown to have falsified bills meter readings etc?
Please post a full copy of your account and any mystery on your part will hopfully be explained
Meter readings cannot be falsified! What you don't pay one supplier, you have to pay the other.
All you need do is ensure the two suppliers use the same meter reading for their respective final/start purposes. If they don't, it's the general responsibility of the new supplier to manage any switch of supplier, so contact Ovo and get them to ensure a common reading is used.0 -
Meter readings can be falsified. The smart meter provides an accurate and auditable reading. Ovo prefers to disregard smart meter readings and use accountants' algorithms instead.
I rather suspect that Ovo sets the imaginary meter reading a little lower than the smart meter reading so that it earns a little more revenue and the liquidator of Economy gets a little less.I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Some people make "typos" but I often make "speakos".0 -
Despite being told by Ovo 15 days ago that they were just waiting for the final bill to come over for my account I am now told my bill is not a final invoice at all despite me having had it revised and uploaded to my account way back in June. So what does it take to get them to change the statement from Proforma to Final invoice so that Ovo will prise open their purses? I mean noone else is any use. Grant Thornton don't answer their letters and it sounds like Ofgem are as useful as a chocolate teapot. Without a doubt the ombudsman isn't fit for purpose otherwise we wouldn't all be sitting here like lemons waiting to get our own money back. This has been going for way too long. I am utterly infuriated and have nowhere to go with it.0

If it's not a final bill, put it on one side and await the final bill.
Once you leave a particular supplier, you don't need to pay any further bill from that supplier unless it is a final bill.

So when do they get turned into final bills. I've had mine since May and it's still a Pro Forma invoice. At what point do they decide if it's a final bill. I am presuming if it's a credit - never.0 -

Still no final bills for me. I've sent emails but not even had an automated reply !0

After many months and many exchanges of email with Ovo, Ovo has agreed as follows:
"I have had a look into this for you and realistically I completely agree that you should not have to pay for fuel twice and that the smart meter read should be the one we use. However, we are following the industry processes to the letter so are unable to change our opening reading."
Although we appear now to agree on the points of principle, I still do not have a resolution.
With all of the promoting of smart metering, there is still room for accountants to play games with contrived meter readings that always benefit the accountants' companies.I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Well they falsified mine by using their estimated readings and deleting my actual readings.0 -

I name and shame regularly on Twitter now which eventually got me an acknowledgement from Grant Thornton (definitely a first) but I still have no account resolution. I will keep harrassing them on Twitter until someone does something.0
