In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non-MoneySaving matters are not permitted per the Forum rules. It’s easy. As explained earlier, you cannot insure a building you do not own.0

Well I got a telling off... I despair sometimes0

The question here is the only advice I asked for was where can I find an insurance company that will give me buildings insurance that was the question I asked at the start of this thread. I did not ask for advice for anything else so why the abuse!. I don't require advice, it was not sort, so why give it!!!. I still think the advice/abuse is not from genuine posters, the tone and substance of the posts tell me that.
OK here it is. You cannot insure a property that you don't own and you cannot remove a tree with a TPO on it. The council will not remove the tree so that you can buy the bungalow without the tree there. If you want to buy the bungalow you buy it with the tree there.

Is it your first yellow card? Don't take it to heart; most of us have had one at some time.babyblade41 wrote: »Well I got a telling off... I despair sometimes0 -
babyblade41, how come? I didn't. Though I note a post has gone (but has been quoted, thank you Murphybear

You only called the OP's behaviour 'vexatious,' but babyblade made jokes which may have been judged to be at the expense of the OP.babyblade41, how come. I didn't. Though I note a post has gone (but has been quoted, thank you Murphybear

But the workings of minds in the backroom at MSE Towers are not really for us mere mortals to dwell upon....0 -
trouble is we know from watching the Parliament channel that it is know looking like that goverment will sell off all council houses to the private sector in the future, we don't want to be at their mercy
Is this true?
How far in the future? Has anyone else heard about this? I haven’t read the full thread but that part has made me panic. I’m in a council house too and I’ve never really liked the whole RTB thing but if this is true, it won’t just be the OP who is in a rush to use it.0 -

IF it was true you almost certainly would have a home for life every time a government changed things like this in the past such as student loans existing users get to keep the better terms. I doubt this would ever become policy anyway and even if it did it would take years to become law and take decades for housing to be sold off. When using the housing forum please use the sticky threads for valuable information.0 -

If you look further down the page at posts 30,32,35,37,38 you will see I asked for a link to this occurrence in parliament and the OP refused stating I should ask my member of parliament about it. I googled and could find nothing. Not going to ask my MP about something that may not have happened.
As I pointed out, it takes a lot more than the lone voice of two MPs to make something like this happen.
Something may have caused the OP to take a course of action, but if it happened at all, seems to have passed the rest of the population (and any ministers who have responsibility for Housing and Finance) by. If you are still concerned, try reading the whole thread, I think it will allay your fears. I can understand why you were concerned, I was too initially, but not any more.0 -
I'm still here and yes a yellow warning... my shoulders are broad and I'm well and truly put back in my hole .
I was going to post something then but realised this thread is a little fractious already so I've zipped it
If this was all that offended me over the past half century I truly would be a happy bunny
Off to the pit I go with no tea !!!0
